exhaust this weekend

Ok so I plan on putting on a new exhaust this weekend from the manifold all the way back. I'm going with the magnaflow cat, and the banks cat back. And of course two new o2 sensors. Its a 98 4.0 auto. Any tips or tricks I should know? Thanks

I just did mine this week. I also got the magna flow high flow cat and I went with a magna flow exhaust. It's pretty easy however the clip where your original exhaust and your catalytic converter me may be rusted shut. I went ahead and cut all of mine out with a saws all just to save time. Tightened it all up and checked for exhaust leaks. I had a few but it was pretty easy to tighten up. Just be sure to get the exhaust manifold type. Let the exhaust run for a while and burn that new smell off. It smells terrible but it's a new exhaust.
All in all it's pretty easy. I did have to trim the back tailpipe about 6 inches because I have a tow hitch on my jeep that the previous owner installed. I just cut it with a Dremmel

Thank you. Im hoping to just cut everything off and slap the new stuff on. But things always go a lot easier in my head. I have a hitch too. Hopefully its not a problem. Thanks again.

If you have any questions just send me a PM and I will help you out. To angle the tip after i had to cut off the 6 inches all I did was cut it down the middle and then put it on each side of the pipe and trace it out. It's pretty easy to do.

when removing the intake manifold recommend soaking it down with pb blaster the night before and you can skip the step saying to remove all fuel injectors from the intake manifold, you have to remove the fuel injector electrical connections and a few other things on top of the manifold, makes less break down and not having to deal with breaking the rubber o rings on the injectors creating an emergency... good luck.. youll be happy that you did this jeep will run awesome.. hopefully you got ngk o2 sensors, and an exhaust manifold with expandable joints.. Recommend purchasing some new bolts to reattach the manifolds from the stealership some of mine were badly corroded. Good Luck Man

All done. It wouldve been nice to know that the tip won't work with a trailer hitch. Not cool banks not cool.

I didn't put the tip on yet. Debating on a turn down or cut some of the tail pipe. Or I guess I could just go tip less?

Yep that looks good. This whole time I've been trying to post my pics, but it's not working. Keeps saying the app has crashed blah blah. So what am I doing wrong here? Also there is no "roar" with the banks monster. Which Is fine by me.

It took me a good couple of hours to get the 2 bolts out of the exhaust manifold when I did my exhaust. I cut them in half between the manifold and the pipe, then had to eat a hole in the center of what was left of the bolts in the manifold with a carbide bit on a dremel then drive them out with a air chisel.

Yes I am noticing some performance gains. Mostly at higher speeds. My old exhaust was so bad that this one is quieter. I'm hoping for some better mpg too. Mine tanked bad when the o2 sensor went bad. And also F the Fing bolts on the manifold to the header pipe!!!
