Extendatrunk

Does anyone use this? I thought about getting it since I don't have the rear seat in. I just wanted to know if it is a pain to take out if I want to put the seat back in again?

I used a sheet of 3/4 inch plywood. I cut it the width of the jeep roof so it sits on that 'shelf' where the hardwear connects the roof to the body. I cut two notches out where the roll cage comes up at the back corners, so the cover comes all the way back to the tailgate. The carpet on top is outdoor carpet from Home Depot. I bought two U-brackets- a 3inch and 4 inch, to hang my Hi-lift bracket under neacth the shelf. That serves 2 purposes- it hides the jack from thieves, and makes the shelf heavy so it doesn't bang around at all. When the roof is off, I drilled some holes in it so it can be bolted to the same holes as the roof, that way it acts as a full time cover over the rear section. I do not have a center console so my golf clubs can actually fit underneath straight up the middle and are also completely hidden. Best project I've done yet. Wish I had more pics for you...

Cheap-ass build it yourselvers. Don't you know we're trying to make a living here?

Just kidding. Don't yell at me.

(I built a shelf in the back of my CJ, but my excuse is that the Extend-a-trunk doesn't work in CJs).

That looks pretty cool! Does it lock when you have the top off?

I built one as well. The back half of the deck is hinged to open up, there is a divider midway to create a secured back half (when the back door is locked my stuff is safe), the front half has 3 compartments for the need-to-get-to-it-while-I-drive stuff. It has black I/O carpet and has 4 D ring-attachments for a cargo net. I will get pics and might even do a few drawings for those inclined to make their own. Yeah, about $60 bucks and four hours time (fitting pattern, cutting, glueing and screwing, paint, carpet)... looks custom made, if I do say so my damned self! I might even make them and sell them... if anyone would rather buy one than make one...

I haven't put my seat back in since I finished it... 10 months ago.
