Extended brake hoses?

Hey got a quick question for a buddy of mine. Would he need extended brake hoses for his 06 tj if he lifts it 3 inches? My other buddy has a 00 Cherokee with 3 inches and didn't need them.
Advise is appreciated, thanks.

I put a 4" lift on my 97 and installed extended brake lines. They were not neccessary. In fact on certain occasions they actually rub on the tires.

You can usually relocate the clip bracket on the frame to gain some travel, but personally I would get the extended lines.

If cost is or time is an issue relocate the clip bracket and then test out the flex to see if it pulls too much. There are some write-up out there that should give you an idea of how much to move it.

The need for longer brake lines is about travel, not just "lift height." Get some YJ brake lines from a parts store--bolt on and 3" longer. With 12" travel shocks mine have plenty of room left.

I seriously doubt you will be even close to needing extended brake lines for a typical non-super-flexy 3" suspension lift.

I'll play it by ear but prob just leave it as is bcuz he will be mostly on the road n prob won't see much offroad

So my buddy's jeep actually turned out good, besides the rear up shock bolts breaking. Turns out he doesn't need the extended break hoses; had flexing like crazy n they stock ones still has a little bit of slack.

Did you check with the wheels straight? You still need to be able to turn and steer, right?

the best way to check is drop the axle to full droop. support the frame, and just drop the axle as far down as it will go, like on a vehicle lift. now turn the wheels lock to lock and look to see if the brake lines become tight when the brake caliper moves outward upon turning the steering wheel.
