exterior drivers side door handle loose, help?

Ok, I posted earlier today about my door handle not tight enough and how to adjust it. I got the panel off, the handle adjusted and working perfectly. Installed back on the Jeep, couldn't get the dome light to turn off. So after slamming it shut a few times trying to figure that out (never did figure that out) the exterior door handle stopped working all together. Took the panel off again and I cannot figure out whats wrong. The handle is floppy, not engaging at all now. I suspect the area behind the handle, but I'm not sure how its supposed to look. I've done my best to picture it here. Any help on how to fix my handle?
The picture is how the inside looks when the handle is in the "closed" position.
Also, any idea on why the dome light wouldn't shut off once I put the door back on? It latched and fit like it was supposed to, what did I do wrong? It was for sure caused by the door I took off. Thanks all!

Ok, posted a little too soon. I fixed the loose handle Now, to fix why my dome light won't shut off when I put the door back on? It only seems to fit one way and it fits tightly.
