extra oil

so did my oil and filter change this weekend...... after replacing with fresh oil it seems like my oil pressure is up.... it rises above half initially and gets up around 3/4 it used to sit just below half when at idol then get up a little shy of 3/4 when running..... now im thinking i over filled it?

is this normal and if i did over fill it a bit is this a problem???

if the oil level is between the add and full lines you are good. if its a little high its not bad, but its not good. if its really high, then you would want to try and take some out.

Oil level and oil pressure are not the same thing, it's reading higher on the gauge most likely because you now have fresh oil in there. But the level is not what's making it read higher.

DDD is correct. Old oil, very thin and worn out. New oil thicker and fresh.

Pump pressure goes up as oil thickness increases. After a while it will drop back down to your normal readings.

Hot idle is 10 to 15 psi. Just below the second line on your gauge. The first line being zero.
And as stated it will go up as the engine speeds up, the pump is mechanically driven so the faster the engine spins the faster the pump spins, the higher the oil pressure will go.

97-01 or so had pressure gauges that read actual pressure and would fluctuate with temperature and rpm. 01+ just has a dummy gauge that stay at one reading as long as pressure is good.
