Factory Color...Green

I have a 97 Jeep Green TJ. yesterday, I parked next to a newer one in the same color when we went to see a movie. My question here is if they changed the color slightly at some point or if i was experiencing a visual illusion based on other differences in our vehicles. Because his appeared to be a slightly lighter shade of green than mine.

Differences- his had canyon rims on 30x9.50s.. mine has stock steelies on tiny tires. His has chrome headlight bezels to my black ones. And his has the newer style mirrors.

There are 2 different greens, I know that. Ones a darker green, and ones a more medium mettallic. I have seen both cruisin around MD, and I owned the lighter medium green one. Not sure if thats what you are talking about?

they changed the green color a couple of times... once was in the 99 model year. I went to buy a new 99 and when I went to place the order I found out the darker olive green wasn't available anymore and they changed to a lighter metalic color

the 97's have PGF ( Emerald Green Pearl Coat). Newer TJ's have a variation on it that looks a bit different.

Does your TJ look like the green in my sig?

My 97 was the "lighter" green. Looked in the middle of erickpl and dipietro. I think there was a few different greens offered over the years, and even 2 different greens during the same model years sometimes.

98 had a different green than any i've seen posted so far. Loved it too. But after 98 it changed so I went different direction.

I believe there were two colors of dark green...emerald green and moss green... Dipietro's and Nregas' look to be the same color (moss green??), dipietros just looks dirty. Mine is teh same as theirs... but the other color has a blueish tint (emerald green???) to it like solo97 and ericpl

Speaking of colors....I noted in a book on "Jeep" that the Bantam prototypes appear to have been a sandy brown color. Then I presume they went to a military green for the Army, a light Tan, for the Navy, and so forth....

Anyone match the origional WWII colors with their current rides? (I'm not asking about rebuild WWII models, just about current models that have been painted to match the origional WWII colors).

Guess I always thought that if I could find a more "origional green" I'd try and buy it.

Nope. I've seen that color like Dipietro's quite a bit and it's not that close to mine. The color itself may not be too far off, but it's a basic clearcoated green. I'm not sure if the green on mine was specific to Sahara's or something? IDK, but definitely 2 different colors and I've only seen it on another 98 Sahara. Mine is very metallic with gold flakes. In the shade it looks very very dark, but in the sun it looks like the photo above. I believe they changed to Moss the next year.

My 97 must have been "emerald" i guess. It wasn't a blueish-green, but it was not real dark either. It was a medium green with a lot of metallic, but deffinately no blue.
