Factory Side Steps

So I'm trying to take my factory side steps off for some rock sliders that are going to go on eventually. I get one bolt out of the frame, move to the second one and it comes out about half way and the little bastard just starts spinning and won't go in any farther or out any farther..... Does anyone have any advice on how to get this thing out without me having to cut the bolt?

you can try PB blaster from the back side. I'm sure it's just build up on the bolt. May also try pulling down on the step while turning the bolt out to try an dput pressure on the nutsert to hold it.

You'll find out that nutserts are the devil's spawn, just cut it off and forget about it as long as it's not in the way of anything. Depending on the rock sliders, once you put them on you will never know it's there.

Yeah that nutsert was the Devil's spawn. I tried putting pressure up and down to keep it from turning, no luck. I finally had to cut it off at the bolt. Only problem was, I didn't have a sawzall or a dremmell. I had to get a hacksaw in there and saw it by hand... ugh!
