Factory steps...

I have removed the factory steps, now the "nut" that is pressed in the frame is spinning freely. I cannot remove the bolt from it. In other words...I removed the steps, put the bolts back in to prevent damage to the threads, and now I cannot remove two of the bolts.

Before I hit it with the grinder and get midievel on it, I just had to ask if anyone had this problem already? I just need a temporary fix before my rocker guards are in. I want my chick to get in and out without flashing the goods.

Can these "nuts" be replaced? I'm thinking of drilling to the other side of the frame and using longer bolts.

Here are the pics:

The bolt on the left is stuck (nut is spinning)

Without the bolt on the right
