factory switches, possibly fog light wiring?

Hello, on my '03 Rubicon I have a 4 switch panel. Switches 1 & 2 from the left are the defroster and wiper for the hard top rear glass. Switch 3 is blank, switch 4 is the locker switch.

In the back of the blank in switch 3 is a factory wire pigtail. My question is this: was this third switch on the panel for the factory fog light option? If not what does it connect to?

Underneath the fenders, the headlight harness on each side has an unused female connector with two wires. I am guessing these would have been for the factory fog lights as well?

My hope is that the pigtail in the switch blank, and the unused plugs in the lighting harness were for factory fogs. Then by simply buying an OEM switch for the panel/pigtail and wiring into the harness on the headlights I would then be able to run an LED light bar from switch 3 in the dash via the factory wiring.

Can any on clarify?

Thanks in advance!

You could try putting a hot 12v wire on the pigtail behind the switch plate and see if you get power at the fog light wiring.

On an 03 shouldn't the stock foglight switch be on the blinker switch?

Ahh you are correct about the factory fogs. My switch for that is a pull function on the blinker switch.

Thats a bummer. I guess I could use it that way, but when I tested it I noticed you can't turn the factory fogs on while the headlights are off. They will come on but wont stay engaged when you let go.

hmmm on the one hand, I feel like why not just use the factory setup for the light bar. On the other hand, I'd really like to have the offroad lights on a matching toggle switch to fill that dummy in the panel.

Has anyone used the wiring in the dummy for anything else? Or can it only be used for the OD off/on for the auto's?

My 04 rubicon 5 spd had the blank 3rd but no wire behind it. I bought used 98 tj foglight switch/connector from daveys jeep parts. It runs 2 kc slimlites on the windshield brackets. Looks factory and fit in the blank perfect.

I used my blank spot for a winch toggle because I had to hard wire my winch in.
