Fair Price for 2005 lj rubicon

hey everyone,
I am the second owner of a 2005 lj rubicon 6 spd man.
It got a 2" bb
new sway bar links
adjustable front/rear LCA
New 265/75 dura trac's
hard/soft tops
silver with cloth inside.
105,000 miles

Here's the bad, jeep has a hard time shifting into 4th gear. I think its the syncro's? (grinds when the RPMS arent perfect).
besides that its perfect.
I am in need of a pick up truck, (starting my own contracting business)
so I dont know if it is worth fixing then selling , or just selling it as is.

Any Ideas on what is a fair asking price for it AS IS?
or with fixed transmission?
I am located in NJ (truck was in Maryland its entire life until I got it, no rust from road salt !!)
Thanks for the input

The listed components won't increase the value any more than stock, so KBB should give you a good range to work with.

Needs a new trans then, I went through 3 NSG370's under warranty before Chrysler sent me a brand new unit (not reman). This one actually works right.

Mods aren't worth anything.

Just as a reference, I was looking for an '05 Rubicon here in California. They were ranging from 19k - 26K. Good starting point is to run Craigslist in your city, to see what others are asking.

Where do you live that they sell jeeps so cheap. In 05 you couldn't get a wrangler x for 23k where I'm at.

You can always buy cheap. In 2003, when Rubicons were new and red hot, I ordered one through a dealer, in a pre-negotiated credit union deal for invoice plus $300. That is what I paid although the dealership made me wait 9 months. But I had a couple of other Jeeps to play with.

If you don't have the patience to wait for the deal you want, don't complain when they rape you on price.

I'm not complaining and I didn't buy one, I just know what jeeps sell for around here. I was just asking so next time I'm shopping I know where to start. I'm not afraid to wait ( waited 7 months for an SS camaro for $500 over dealer cost) I'm also not afraid to travel for a good deal (1000 miles round trip for a camper and 700 miles round trip for my lj)

It was March of 2004,, the first time I angered the sales lady so much that she ended up chasing me through the showroom yelling, "who the hell do you think you are? Wanting retail for your trade and wholesale for the new rubi" The manager called me later at home, and apologized profusely, asked me to come back. I did, I walked out again after telling the sales man that if he left the hotbox again to check with his manager I would walk out. He went to check, I walked out.. Two weeks later, they called me on the 31st, ( end of quarter ) asked me to come back in, we could work something out, I said, don't waste my time, gimme your numbers now, over the phone. They did and I went and picked up my jeep... It was March Madness sales event, I also made three foul shots for an additional 1,500 off. The sales guy kept reminding me what a great deal I was getting,, I reminded him that his stealership was still making money.. A year later I went in and bought a liberty CRD sport for 23... No BS on that deal, they gave me their very bottom line right up front..

Here in Southern Cali, Wrangler prices tend to be higher due to the demand. We walked away with our 2006 LJ Rubi (auto, hardtop, stock, 63k miles) for $16k, which was four thousand less than the cheapest LJ Rubi I had seen in six months, and most dealers were asking $24k! The only real issues, besides paint scratches and such, were a worn track bar and u-joints that were going bad. $200 fix. Got a decent deal, overall. I imagine that if yours needs tranny work, that will drive the price down further. The only real way to determine whether it would be worth it to fix prior to selling is to get a diagnosis and a quote. Then go from there.

Mods don't really add anything to the value of the Jeep. Most people who want a modded Jeep will buy a bone stock one so they can do it themselves. However, you may be able to wiggle a little bit more out of someone if they really desperately don't want to do the work on it. But not much.

Location plays a key role in value. When I was looking, I found way lower prices the further east I looked it seemed (I'm in NM). On the other hand, I've never seen a TJ with body rust around here.
Usually modifications don't add to the value, unless you find someone who is willing to pay extra for them. I myself would have paid a little extra (maybe I did) for a bone stock unit.

I live in So Cal and paid $21k for an 05 Rubi LJ with 4" lift 33" tires hard top, new soft top, warn winch, HiLift jack, automatic 4.0, banks exhaust, headers and cold air intake with 23k miles. I looked for year and half and I feel I got a fair price.
