Fender Paintin!

I went roading and when I was done cleaning the car I noticed that parts of the fenders were a bit faded. Whats up with that? Also whats the best way to fix it? And how would I avoid this from happening again?

are they the stock "plastic fenders"?

if they are krylon fusion!! (rattle can spray paint made for plastic outdoor furniture) (any hardware store/big box store will have it) works great.. i painted them when they were still on the tj.... looks great... get the black satin... spray on light coats or it will run on ya.... i got better by the 2nd 3rd and 4th fencer....

that is if you don't want to tube them!!

CHEERS!!

ps can't tell by my sig, but they turned out a nice satin black... real nice and it only took 1 $5 can of krylon fusion for all the fenders...they faded to this dull light gray... heck for $5.. it's a nice look...

Seems like EVERYONE is going the krylon fusion way for the faded fenders. Im thinking about hitting me up pretty soon as well.

The Krylon Fusion has a special chemical component which makes the molecules of the paint to adhere/fuse with the molecules in the plastic. Most plastics won't take paint, but this makes the paint become part of the plastic itself. And it looks cool too!

That chemical is the same thing in plastic model paint.

Is the krylon fusion like a paint or a clear coating that will refurbish the original color. If the second isn't true were can i get the color that matches the stock bumpers.

The Krylon Fusion is a paint, not a clear. If you want it all to match perfectly then paint it all. This stuff is great though, and it won't flake off. Best thing to do is go to the hardware store and get the Satin Black Krylon Fusion and paint everything. It'll look good if you do it right. about 3 coats with very light applications. If you put it on too think it will drip.

keep mineral spirits handy. If it runs, clean it off before it dries and try again.

I line xed my fender flares on my newer jeep. I also put a line x equivalent on my other jeep. The fenders never faded, peeled or worried about getting scratched up again. I would do it to all my jeeps.
