I have a lifted 2003 Sport that I purchased in September. I passed NJ inspection today, somehow, but I know if I went for the "hi lift" test as I should, I would fail. I think I am 1" over the limit, according to my attempted calculations. (Door sill is 32" from ground.)
Regardless, my tires stick out very far (not sure how to measure it, see picture!), and I want to get some fenders. I hope I don't catch flak for this, but does anyone know of a good shop in South Jersey that will do this?
In the small pic on your profile,it seems that you have tube fenders,am I right? These usually do not cover as much,as they allow for more tire clearance. If I am understanding your post, you want to remove the tube fenders and install O.E.M. fenders?
Stock fenders won't cover but add some flares and it will. When I bought my first jeep the tires stuck out about 3" and I hated it. Couldn't open a window or take a turn without being sprayed in the face. I added some 7" wide fender flares that solved the problem.
I think we could use a few pics of the Jeep as a whole so you can get proper info. And some specifics on the jeep as well. How much lift, suspension or body or both? Tire size? Fenders you have now? Do you have flares installed? Until that is provided we really couldn't tell you one way or the other.
Here is a picture with 7" stock type fender flares look like installed. It's not the best picture and only shows what it looks like from the side. I should state that my tires are 35" x 12.5" x 15" for reference.
Looks to me like the flares were removed. Your looking at the fenders there. Look at Mikes pic above and you will notice the difference between the fender and the flare extending over the tires. Furthermore, by the looks of your avatar the fender looks aftermarket, so there might not be a option to add flares easily.
Yes you do not have the factory fenders on the front of your Jeep. To modify your tire coverage you will need to replace the front fenders. If it is important to attain more coverage you might be able to find someone that would want to trade you their stock fenders & flares for your aftermarket ones. Then you could add the 7" stock type of flare to the stock fenders. Or you could purchase new aftermarket fenders with more coverage. For example: Metalcloak, TJ/LJ Wrangler Tube Fenders & Body Armor has fenders with detachable flares with widths up to 6" that can be easily changed for different coverage options.

I will add though, you may be able to add flares to the fenders you have. I would try to contact the original owner and see if they can point you in the direction they went. Fenders and flares are 2 different parts that go hand in hand. It looks like they had them at some point. Other routes to acquire what you need is some of the salvage yards for take offs, or his ebay/amazon for some of the cheaper alternatives to the more expensive companies.
Also,in the pic of your post, it doesn't look like your Jeep is level to the ground. Is it in fact level or is the rear higher than the front, on a level surface?
