Finally Finished ! 05 Willys Edition

Recently found a one owner, 05 TJ Willys Edition for an excellent price. I had been looking for a while, but they were hard to find ! PO had never washed the Jeep since it was new, and he lived on a gravel road, so I spent three days stripping and cleaning. The air vents were so full of dust, when you turned the fan on, a dust cloud came out. Factory clean now !

A 2" lift kit (for sale) was installed by the PO, but poorly. No TB mods, CA cam bolts, TC drop, etc. Poor alignment/suspension geometry created some twitchy steering and wobbling.

I rigged this one for general use since ride motorcycles for serious offroading. Canoeing, kayak fishing, trout fishing, and mild exploring on the weekends will be the primary use.

3" BDS w/sway bar disconnects, stock CA w/cam bolts, F&R TB relocate, TC shift linkage relocate, TC drop (SYE next year)
4:10 gears
33" BFG A/T
8" x 15" ALU wheels (some jeep type out of local trade paper)
Congo Cage
Safari Rack (might sell and get canoe rack instead)
Factory decal set installed (PO had not installed)

Only a few of these around NC, so if you see me, wave !

Before: (but after cleaning)

After:

Tried Crager 365 black wheels, but didn't like them.( for sale btw, new w/10 miles on them)

Beautiful!

But you do know a Jeep is never done???

Only various stages of a work in progress!

"Safari Rack (might sell and get canoe rack instead)"

If you already have yakima or Thule gunwale brackets to tote the canoe, just cut a slice of rubber hose and put it inside the gunwale brackets to help take up the extra inside diameter inside the brackets. I have the same basket and this works really well for a canoe. Than damn basket is noisy as heck though. BTW it works with yakima j saddles for a kayak as well, though a bit more of a pain in the rear to put on.

Also.... Very Nice looking Jeep!

Thanks for all the compliments !

Several of you are right, my list of "wants" is growing, but I am going to try to keep this one simple. In years past, I spent too much modifying Jeeps. This one is going to be my "do all" vehicle.

I will have several items from the project posted in the "For Sale" section that are new. Sometimes your "wants" outrun your "needs".

The Jeep looks great. You almost never see the Willys Edition around here (Kansas for the time being). I really like the overall look.

I'm acutally looking for a minimum of 3" for the suspension but thanks for the offer! I'll keep that in mind though in case the wifey doesn't agree with the 3". What brings you to VA? I'm guessing business but thought I would ask!
