Talking finally finished painting!!! well......

alright so i am finally done withmy painting project for the inside. and i have to say im pretty happy with it. i was super sick of the ugly gray color on the inside. i decided to have alittle fun with it and add some red accents for when the top is off, the toughest part was the grab handle which is still alittle sticky after a couple of days. let me know what ya think and if u got some pics lets see 'em!!

I admire your enthusiasm and your creativity!!! I wouldn't want it for myself but I am sure a lot of people will love it. And, of course, if YOU love it then that is all that matters!

Thanks for sharing!

first i pulled off everypart that i could get off easy and can still drive around without; glovebox, speaker covers, upper dash covering the defrost, and the peice under the sterring wheel. all i did was wash them down with soap and water, didnt have to do any real prep work other than that considering that the dash itself already has a great deal of roughness with all the groves and design in it. after washing it down i dryed it off real good and then painted it with black paint made for vinyl and fabric. 6 dollars a can from autozone, cheap but does the job. it dries very quickly, i would say within 3 mins, just make sure to do very light coats starting off the peice then moving over it in even strokes. i do this so that the paint does glob at where you started. the middle bezel (around the stereo) i used the same paint but only for plastic. and did the same thing with light coats, that took longer to dry. then while all those where off i took off the rest of the dash, alot of screws so be warned!!! the only tough part was the airbag cover because there are 2 bolts that are hidden behind it. other than that it was easy. i washed it and then painted it with the black with about 4 coats. i did put that back on right away after it dried because the cops here in the flowermound area of dallas arnt very nice bout jeeps. and i let it bake in the sun for alittle bit to help it cure to the plastic. just be careful your first week or to as it will be easy to scratch.any other questions let me know
