Finally got around to the doors.

I just removed them, took me all of 10 minutes. First time for the jeep. The nuts had the original white paint on them untill now. LOL. Now i need a mirror.

That "bling" in the first pic is not chrome. calm down guys-LOL It's actually A/C tape (the metal tape). I could not spend the $$ they want for the protectors. So i Improvised.

Have you ever seen those gigantic grass hoppers? There about 5 inches long. They sell them to schools for dissecting.

When i had my harley i hated those things! I had to ride with a windshield. And even then they were a pain- all those guts get stuck to the paint and acrylic. Yeah i don't think i'll be driving with the windshield down. But i just want to do it so i know how.

My doors are off more than my top, but I've never had the urge to drop the windshield. I've got a bike if I want that sensation.

There's probably an answer somewhere in the forum already, but how hard is it to put the windshield down?

I put the top up and down all summer, but keep the doors off. Just pulled the drain plugs and carpet tonight.

wish it was nice enough to have the top and doors off again, the rain was horrible yesterday, the rivers are up about 30 feet.

I just had the top and doors off on Saturday, first time was a PITA, had to screw the nuts back on a little, grab my hammer and a 2X4 and beat the nuts until the pin popped loose, now the 2nd time they came right off without effort. took maybe 2 seconds for each door

Whimps, hugh?

How old are you?

Seatbelts are for whimps too, right? Because it'd be super intelligent to drive w/ no seatbelts and no doors.

Mine never had nuts. I can take the doors off when ever, just takes a few seconds each. You guys must have a lot of rust or something.

Don't worry so much about the nuts snapping off. The doors can't come off unless they're open, and you're upside down. I was fortunate enough to only snap one nut off on each side, but I still haven't gotten around to putting the nuts on, even though I put my doors back on for the rainy weather.
If you can't park your jeep in the garage, then I'd be a little more concerned about your doors being quickly stolen. I don't know how to fix the snapped nuts though.
I've heard that thiefs will go to jeep dealerships and take pictures of jeeps, advertise the doors on craigslist, then go back and steal them.

I took mine off today. I put a little wd-40 on them and then they came right off. The only problem I had was my bad back didn't like doing the work.

I guess this summer I'll be building a rack to hang the doors on, on my garage wall. Shouldn't be that hard, Make some decent l-brackets, drill them into the cement wall so the doors are off the ground by about three to four inches. This way i don't have to lift them to hang them. I'll go to the dollor store and by those swimming pool noodles made out of foam. I'll use that to cover the brackets so the door frame has a cushion to hang on.

I just use 2 lag bolts per door that I drilled into the studs of the garage wall. (stick house) I wrapped the bolts w/ half a cloth diaper and 2 zip ties. I can do pull ups on them. Cheap, easy, effective.

It is a 99 with 163,000 miles and I don't think they have ever been off, and they will not move no matter what I try, any tricks?? Do the pins come out or are the connected to the door, these are full doors with a hard top.

There's a part of the hinge connected to the door, and a part of the hinge connected to the body. The pin is part of the door hinge. Remove the nut (just in case you need to be told this), then get some PB Blaster / WD40 / etc and lightly put a bead at the moving parts of the hinge. Rock back and forth, slightly make repeated open and closing motions with the door while constantly pulling up. Once you get it to move a little, lube the hinge some more and repeat. They'll come off, but they're difficult the first time.
