Finally Got My First Jeep Today

So... I finally went out and bought my first Jeep this morning. It's a silver 2005 Wrangler, 6 cylinder, 6 speed, 87,000 miles, and I got it for $6,500. No typo. $6,500. I know the guy and he was looking to just get out of the payment. Boy did I find a great deal. Busted out the trusty old credit card within an hour of receiving the title, and $3,000 later I have new wheels, tires, tube fenders, lift, winch, headlights, discos, and yellow-top heading to my front door. I plan on posting pictures right now, and I'll continue to update this page as I make progress on it. Should I make separate threads for write ups of each project, or just update here? Let me know what you think. Thanks guys.

I was just doing a little bit of research, and apparently this is also a limited production "Rocky Mountain" Edition too? Which would explain the badge on the passenger side and the fogs. And I believe would mean I have a Dana 44 rear? Does anyone know anything about these Rocky Mountain Editions?

I have one. I don't know that they were "limited" but you are correct on the rear end. I think it also included the seat covers as well. I don't think it included the fog lights. Otherwise it's a o||||o .

I'm going with 35" BF Goodrich All Terrains. All 5 of them. On 15" Cragar Soft 7s. It's a bit cliché, but I like the look a lot and the price is definitely right on them ($39 each at SummitRacing.com). I'm on my phone right now, but I'll post pictures of the cleaning later when I get on a computer. The previous owners didn't so much as rinse off the outside before selling it so it was filthy. I spent two hours getting stains out of the seats last night. I'll post pics in a little bit.

Enjoy! Nice TJ!!

Cleaned the Seats Late Last Night

My girlfriend (who has an '03 Wrangler), and I decided at 2 am last night that my seats were too dirty, so we busted out the shampooer (is that a word) and cleaned all of the stains. The first of each pair of pictures is before, the second is after. And WOW, what a difference.

The back seats even had gum or something stuck to them and we got that all up. I'm amazed at how well it all actually cleaned up. I drove around all day with the top down and the doors off. I'll be updating close to daily from now on I hope with progress being made. From what I can remember by memory, this is what I have on the way:
2.5" Lift
Steering Stabilizer
Tube Fenders Front and Rear
Dana 30 Locker
15" Wheels/35" Tires
Blue 5 pt. Harnesses
Optima Yellow Top
Extended Stainless Braided Brake Lines
Stainless Clutch Hose Kit
Delta Quad Bar Headlights
10,000 lb. Winch
Mirror Relocation Brackets (for use with doors off)
Blue LEDs for gauge cluster color change

I feel like I'm missing something. Oh well. Enjoy!

Nice jeep and price. Look forward to pics. You list mods that I assume are on order. You may want to reconsider either the tires or lift before you open the box. Check the experts but 35's with 2 1/2" lift...?? Probably not a good idea even for speed bumps at the mall. Also 35's will seriously affect gearing so break out the "other" credit card and start orderin gears. JEEP (JustEmptyEveryPocket)

Just out of curiousity, I know that I'll be regearing before too long, but will it be so bad that I won't want to drive it if I leave the stock gears in for a few weeks, give or take, while running 35s? I have a 4.0, 6 speed. Not sure which gears it has in it stock. Thanks.

Oh yeah, I ordered JKS Quick Discos today. I also ordered a front stinger, rear swing arm tire carrier hinge assembly, and rocker tubes from Mark at JeepTubes.com. I couldn't quite find exactly what I was looking for without huge markups, and I work in a shop where I have access to everything I would need to make these parts (sliders, and custom front & rear bumpers), I just couldn't make these bends, so once I get those in, I'll have quite a bit of fab work to do, and I'll be on my way to quite a project. Parts are supposed to start coming in Wednesday or Thursday. More updates soon.

Like Cfree said, I dont think 35s with a 2.5" lift is a good idea. You need atleast a 5-6" lift, just so you dont rub your fenders right off. You could go with the 2.5 suspension and then pick up the rest in a 3 or 4" body lift. Gearing will be your next addition. I would guess you have 4.10s or greater, but dont quote me. I would go with 4.88, which means the locker you ordered will not work with new gears. You also dont need the extended brake lines with only a 2.5 lift. Send that back and put the money towards some gears. The quad lights may look cool, but in my opinion, unless it adds to performance, do the bare minimum.

Just my opinion.

Took the Jeep out mudding last night. Bad idea with almost bald stock tires. There's some good and some bad news though: Luckily we had another Jeep there which we hooked tow straps to and got mine right out. The bad news is that it's my girlfriends bright yellow '03 that pulled me out and I'll never hear the end of it. I'm at school right now, but I'll post pictures and the video of it on here later tonight.

Those stains were from the previous owners. And I used a "Mighty Pet" or something. It's like a mini rug doctor basically. It sprays hot water with a cleaner chemical in it, then you scrub it with a stiff scrubbing brush, then it vacuums it up. You probably duplicate the process with Tough Stuff, hot water, a brush and a shop vac.

Wow man. Sounds like you're having a great time already.

I love my Jeep. Your Jeep looks amazing. The color is perfect and the interior went from 'yucky' to 'ooooh ahhhhhh clean.'

Congrats. You freakin' stole that thing. Enjoy my friend! Welcome to the Club!!!

Mudding on Monday Night

Took my Jeep out the other night and got it stuck. The pictures aren't a great show of what happened, but the belly skid got stuck and my front tires were sitting in over a foot of water... only six inches into the water. To add to it, the tires were almost bald and just clogged up. Not a great time, so my girlfriend, , (Yellow '03 Wrangler X) hooked up to me and pulled me out. I have a ton of pictures and a video of it. I'll post the video on YouTube, then onto here of me being rescued the first time as soon as I can. Here's a few pics:

Parts Finally Came In!

Got everything in the mail the other day. I had so much come in at once that literally 75% of the UPS truck was mine. Topping it off was 5 35s sitting in the aisle in the back. Here's a few pictures:

So... Quite a bit of work ahead of me. I'm looking forward to it!
As far as I can remember, here's what came in the mail between Wednesday and Thursday:
5 35x12.5 BFG A/Ts
5 15x8 Cragar Soft 8s
2 Blue RJS 5 pt. Harnesses
Optima Yellow Top Battery
Delta Quad Bar H4 Headlight Conversion
Rough Country 2.5" Suspension Lift w/ 2.2 Shocks
Rough Country Steering Stabilizer
JKS Quick Discos
Blue LEDs for Gauge Conversion
Aussie Front Locker
10,000 lb. Winch

Still waiting on my tubes from JeepTubes.com. Trail stinger, rock slider tubes, tube fenders front and rear, swingout tire carrier hinge kit. I'll update as I make progress on each little project.
