finally made up my mind

after looking through 15 pages of reviews for the rough country 2.5" suspension with .75" coil spacers and realizing i can't aford the necesesary parts for a 4", I bought it. As for the "rough ride" coments on it, my jeep is redicuously bumpy now and my back shocks are shot so it can't get any worse. I also got a front and rear smittybilt bumpers, the cheap ones, but still better then my dented one now. The bumpers may take a while to ship, but I should atleast get the lift on in the next few weeks. Definitly looking forward to it. Ill post pics. Oh yea, and this cold crapy weather sucks! so much to do with the jeep, trying to do cheap things untill i am done school
-take top and doors off
-put another coat of bedliner on the inside of the tub
-put the lift on
-put bumpers on
-undercoat the bottom of the fenders....the guy befor me did one side... aparantly forgot there is another
-put bedliner or undercoating on the side below the doors
-and continue spending and spending on it

Rather than the .75" spacers, I would have opted for a 1" bodylift. Hopefully you won't net any vibes from your lift but if you do - with the 1" BL you could also supplement it with a 1" motor mount lift (they are available as a packaged deal for some online retailers, JKS stands out in my mind). The motor mount lift would realign your driveline angles, hopefully enough to remove the vibes.

Now, you could effectively remove vibes with the motor mount lift sans the body lift or you could drop your transfer case skid. Another method would be to re-align your drivelines by upgrading to a SYE and changing out the OEM fixed rear driveshaft to a CV shaft.

Usually a small lift won't result in vibes, but there are cases...

The kit does come with a t-case lowerinng kit, thought I'd try without it first, just 6 bolts. As it is now, it vibes like crazy because I mounted my tires and didnt balance them...yet... probably have someone do that when I take it for alignment.(i'll have to do that after the lift right?) Doesnt bother me too much. Right now I have a 2" bb and my shocks are shot and noisey, so i thought Id start with a lift that came with shocks and will clear 33s when I can aford them. Just starting with the lift, then over the summer I will look into wheels and tires, sye and anything else i may need. as my jeep is, it is a verry used dd. I drive about a 100 mi a day between school and work. I am definitly learning tons on here, and apriciate all the help and suggestions. As far as a BL, I wouldn't mind a 1.25" down the road incase i ever get to install 35s and the goodies I need for that. Would love to do that if I get my street bike running to save gas.

rough country does have very quick shipping. Got the lift today, going to install it on sunday, along with changing my oil and fixing the 4wd linkage. Had a pic, but wont work from my cell phone I guess

Got the lift on, went together pretty good except the rear swaybar hardware. Definitly glad i got a compressor for the coils. I installed the t-case drop because when i took it for a spin it did vibrate once i got going. after i did that, when I shift into 2nd, 4th and reverse it pops out real easy. Is there a way to fix that? I am inpressed with how it handles bumps, but is is about as bouncy on mild bumps as any other lifted jeep I drove. Im going to take some pics whenever I get camera batteries. Personally I think it looks good with 31s.

thats why i stuck with the smaller lift, so i have the space for 33's sometime and can keep my 31s. Ill try and get a pic today.

Theres some pics of after the lift, and one before with my 2" coil spacers, thats the cleaner one. Theres definitly some room to take the swaybar ends off

Very cool. I think I'm going to get this lift. I'm not a fan of spacers. I need to wait though till my 31's wear down a bit more before I lift my Jeep and run some 33's. How has this lift been treating you? My Jeep is a DD, and I'm a little concerned with it keeping the road manners it has

My jeep is my only ride, and i drive about 100 miles a day. I just installed the lift yesterday so only got today to drive on it. I like it. Before, when I hit potholes and bumps, it felt like my dash was going to fall off in my lap. It handles bumps and holes in the road very well and drives nice on the highway. The only thing "rough" was my road.. its about a car wide and like they threw some pavement on top of the dirt.... Just bouncy. over all, I like it! worth the money

If i add the taller motor mounts, will I be able to eliminate the t-case drop? also, if I do a 1" body lift, what will I have to do with my 4wd linkage, and shifter?

1" taller motor mounts have nearly the same effect as a 1" t-case drop but not quite. For a 2.5" suspension lift plus .75" spacers, I doubt taller motor mounts by themselves would be enough.
