Finally pulled the trigger!!!!!!

Hello again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It wasn't really a deal but I'm happy so far.....

one owner '04 X/rocky mountain edition, silver, d44 rear!!!!! AC, 50,000mi, auto(wife happy), Hard top, $13,000 from dealer with 3 month warranty. I've done alot of shopping and this was priced pretty good for around here...was priced like a private party sale....was one of my red flags actually.

Just turned the alloy wheels into rattle can bed liner (got that idea here).

It's already on brand new 31" tires (kinda stinks)

I'm still trying to decide on the trektop nx or supertop nx...been reading posts for two days now on this topic.

Just wanted to say hello again. It's been several months since I posted. I was originally looking for a Rubicon but I really think that would've been overkill for us.

This site is a GREAT tool....I read here that If you don't go with a Rubicon, maybe look for a Sport with the upgraded rear axle....or Rocky Mountain Ed., That's what I did.

....My wife gets a kick out of it when everyone driving wranglers waves at her, haaa.

Thanks again everyone.

You won't regret getting the Jeep...now if your wife will just let you drive it some of the time!

That's how it starts. Before long she won't let you drive the jeep and you will get her one. Ask me how I know, I'm up to 3.

I realize I live only a few hours from Moab--which means YMMV--but in my neck of the woods, nothing holds its value like a Jeep Wrangler. Based on my market and the NADA price guide, I'd say you got a decent deal on your Jeep.

But take my advice: stop worrying about the cost! Don't even think about it again, ever. Instead, just start enjoying the hobby... because it was worth every penny and then some.

Normally they did not, but the Rocky Mountain Edition was a special package (available only on the X trim level) which included the Dana44 rear axle.

If you wait a couple days, I'll have installed my new Supertop NX. Have a brand new Trektop NX on it right now, I just don't really like the functionality of it. It was such a PITA getting it on, and if you want to go topless, you have to take the whole thing off. I like the look of the Trektop NX, but I'd rather have the functionality and ease of taking down the Supertop NX. I'll also post pictures of side by side shots of the two.

Also, consider yourself lucky that your wife likes your jeep. I, along with many others here, have a wife or in my case girlfriend, that hate them! Congrats on the new jeep though! I love seeing threads of people who just bought one!

Dallas, I'm struggling with the same thing, function vs. looks i guess. I'm leaning towards the trektop because with all the windows out and the front portion(sun roof) flipped back, istn't it kind of like riding topless??

You are right....but, every big purchase is a little easier with a sweet deal.

Sorry for this silly question but why are my quotes not highlighted??

I will put a hold on jeep research and figure out how to properly post.

When you want to reply and quote part (or all) of another post, click the blue Quote button at the bottom of the post. When the message box appears, you will see ]QUOTE= followed by the user name and probably a few numbers, then the close bracket ]. At the end of their original text, you'll see [/QUOTE]. For their quoted text to appear in your message, both of those bracketed parts must be included in their entirety.

Note: When I typed ]QUOTE= above, you actually need to use the other "open" square bracket [ instead of the "close" bracket ]. I had to typo it on purpose or else the forum software would try to convert much of my message into a boxed quote.

Here is a perfect example. In your last message where you quoted me, there is no ] at the end of my user name... so my original text isn't set in its own box like you wanted it to be. In your next post, feel free to experiment by clicking 'Preview Post' when you think you are done. This will let you see how your message will look before it actually gets posted, and will give you the chance to make any necessary corrections.

Make sense?

I see, thank you for the kind explanation, looks like I must've erased too much last time.

Now I can get back to some research.

I think I will start by fixing some of that rust on the undercarriage. I didn't realize how rusty it was until I looked at the pictures I posted. It doesn't look that bad in person....those photos sure don't do it any justice.

Nice looking Jeep! I really like those wheels. I am wanted to trade mine out for black aluminum wheels when I get the money. Congrats!

Thanks. I wanted black wheels also. I was going to either have them powder coated or buy new ones. Some guys are using the rustoleum bed liner so I thought I would give it a shot. They really do look pretty good considering it probably cost $20 to do. I'm curious to see how long it holds up though, mud, rain, washing, winter in wisconsin etc. If it doesn't work I will try the powder coating.
