Having experience in the medical field and the outdoors, including offshore boating I have recently put together updated first aid kits for my boat and Jeeps. I found a wild array of products available that are not very economically sensible. Yes I would love to have operating room supplies available, but it is not practical. I want to share my choice with you.
First, I found this basic kit on sale at LA Police Gear for $26 The kit pictured below includes
• 1: BleedStop Bandage
• 1: Pair Latex Examination Gloves
• 1: Elastic Bandage, 4''
• 4: Pain Relievers
• 6: Sterile Sponges, 4''x4''
• 1: Tape, Roll, Adhesive
• 16: Bandage Strips, 1''x3''
• 6: Antiseptic BZK Wipes
• 1: Pair of Stainless Steel Tweezers
• 1: Triangular Bandage
• 1: EMT Shears
• 5: Butterfly Strips
• 1: Abdominal Pad, 5''x9''
• 2: Ammonia Inhalants
• 1: EFA - First Aid Instructions
• 1: Burn Aid Package
• 6: Safety Pins
The link for this kit is Elite First Aid, Inc. Tactical Trauma Kit #1
I supplemented the kit with:
Israeli Medical Bandages WoundStop Pro Bandage
Adventure Medical Kits QuikClot Advanced Clotting Sponge,
SWAT-T Stretch-Wrap-And Tuck Tourniquet.
I further supplemented with individually packed items as listed:
Aspirin
Advil
Pepto Bismol
Tylenol triple antibiotic ointment
Purell sanitizing hand wipes
Imodium
burn gel
Betadine swabs
Diphenhydramine
cold compress
clotting sponge
hydrocortisone cream
emergency blanket
Also, all the listed items fit in the kit.Considering price, size and usefulness anyone trying to put together a practical economical first aid kit should consider the above a top choice.
