Ok every one, here is my plan on what im going to do to my 2003 Sahara Tj, so tell me what you guys think please. I have already replace my hard top with a supertop NX, very happy with that, think im going to go ahead and get rid of my hard top.
So within the next couple of month these will be done, unless you guys think other wise, lol.
1. 4 inch zone off rd lift w/ nitro shocks.
2. 33x12.50x15 toyo M/T, havent decided rims yet, but thinking 10 inch wide possibly. I like it when the tires stick out a little bit.
3. Bushwacker 4 inch pocket fender flares.
4. smitty's rocker panel with side step.
5. replacing stock head lights with HID's
Thats a good bit to get me started.
I talked to a local off road shop, and he told me I have a dana 44 rear and I think a dana 30 or 35 front axle, 3:73 gears.
So any advice would be much appreciated, im a newbie!!
That sounds like it's gonna be a sweet jeep when its all done! Your axles should be fine with those 33's. If it's a 30 in the front I might be a little worried but not overly concerned.
Only thing I would suggest is 1) plan on doing a t-case drop to stop any driveline vibs and 2) if you do any wheeling at all I'd go with a 15x8 wheel to prevent the bead from unseating.
I have pics of my jeep with a 2.5" lift and 33x12.50 mt/r's on 15x8" rim if you'd like to see how far the tires will stick out.
And also backspacing of the wheel will affect how far the tire sticks out more than how wide it is. So if you want a wider stance go with a wheel with 3.5-3.75" of bs.
Just my 2 cents
You have a 30 in the front, there is no 35 for the front. The 30front and 44 rear will be just fine for what you are planning. Also as stated go with an 8 in wide wheel, if you air down to go off road it will hold the bead much better. Get an 8in wide wheel with 3.75in backspacing and you tires will stick out plenty (as stated check your local laws though) and you wont rub. Finally if you are set on HIDs make sure you do it properly and install HID projectors. DO NOT install HIDs into your stock or any other reflector housing. Jeeps already blind traffic when lifted, the last thing people want is super bright glare in conjunction with that heading in their direction.
THis pic will give you an idea of how far your tires will stick our with the 4in flares, 13x12.5r15tires on 15x8in wheels with 3.75in backspacing.
This will give you an idea of how far they stick out on stock flares with 4.25" of bs. The passenger front tire rubs on the lower control arm at full wheel lock so I'd go 3.75" bs if I had the money for new rims (PO installed these with 31's).
AWESOME looking jeeps guys!! hopefully mine will be a REAL jeep soon like yours!! Now I know what im looking forward to, and thanks for the info. So def go with 3.75 spacing, and yea i forgot about blinding people lol, def right about that. Yea this all ill be able to afford for a while haha, so I wanted to make sure ill go with some things ill be happy with.
Thanks man! I'm really proud of my jeep. My parents bout it for me when I was 15, I'm 20 now. And everything that is on it I've worked for, paid for, and installed myself; so it's nice to hear someone else appreciating it as well And I think you'll really like your jeep once it's all said and done. But get ready to work because as everyone on this forum will tell you, nothing ever goes quite as planned when you're doing mods like these to your jeep. But just have fun with it, take your time to do it right, and make your Jeep exactly the way you want it.
