Google is 1 hell of a thing my friend..

Typed in "7 inch Fender Flairs Tj"

Got: (About 18,500 results in 0.21 seconds)

Rugged Ridge Makes These.. Good deal if you ask me.. but i dont like the style more like the originals..
Amazon.com: Rugged Ridge 11608.11 7" Fender Flare Kit for TJ Jeep Wrangler 1997-2006 - 6 Piece: Automotive

But if your looking for Flat Fender flairs i would just go with 6" they do the same and look better..
Jeep Flat Panel Style Fender Flares for Jeep wrangler TJ & Unlimited TJL by Bushwacker

Or even better go with Tube fenders
Jeep CJ Wrangler YJ TJ tube flat fenders w/ 3"-7" flare on eBay!

But there is a huge Variety of Flairs here is a good site

Thanks I like the flats but I need seven inches to cover my tires for inspection. And I like those tube fenders you posted but I can't weld lol. I did google and looked a little but didn't see anything that's why I asked for help. Thanks for helping.

maybe so....
but I didn't want crap from the Illinois State Police for my tires sticking out (already had a verbal warning)...
and these are similar to stock and were the cheapest I could find.
Similar to stock & cheap was very important... My wife says, I've spent way too much on my JEEP as it is...

They'll do the job, and maybe one day.... I'll get something else.

Thanks for the info!! Thats how mine are also. When I looked at the 6 1/2" flares online I thought the actualy stuck out from the metal 6 1/2 ". These seem to be about the widest I can find.

My tires is out about 2 inches from the flares and thought about putting something like that before. I might want to go different route later.

My wife says the same thing about me but...heck that is why I setup a Jeep fund account and she promised not to get mad if my purchases come out of that account.

This drives me nuts. I hate to see good folks spend good cash due to bad info.

there is nothing, NOTHING, NOTHING in the Illinois state code regarding tire coverage for passenger vehicles. I have read the statutes 6 ways from Sunday. It's not in there. There is for commercial vehicles, but not not passenger. Here is a list of all required equipment for a passenger vehicle:

Illinois Rules of the Road

I understand arguing w/ a cop on the side of the highway is not an advisable way to spend your time, but if it were ever an issue, keep a print out of that web page in your glove box next to your insurance card. If s/he insists on writing the ticket, just ask (POLITELY) for the statute to be written on the ticket. Go home, google the statute number, and print out the statute. There will be no language regarding tire coverage. Have your day in court.

"Avoiding getting hassled" is often the first step down the road to serfdom.

Honestly, it's not that big of deal... he was new (very)...
I didn't get pulled over, I was in the gas station when he came in, and he was actually admiring my toy. He commented about the tires needing to be covered, not quoting anything out of the book. I agreed with him, about the fact they should be covered. Especially with the recent snow we'd had, I couldn't believe how much debris came off the tires...
At that point, I had already bought the flares and intended to install them. I was telling him that my Jeep was going in the following week to have the front dr. fender fixed and while one stock flare was off, I'd just take them all off and put on my flares...

So, like I said... no big deal

I just don't want some other cop an excuse to pull me over.
It may not be on the books, but it doesn't mean they won't pull you over for that and not find something else for the ticket..
I like to cover all my bases when it comes to the law... especially the MONEY HUNGRY STATE OF ILLINOIS...

I hear ya...I was going to say something along those lines, but I was ready to get off my soapbox

Just that topic in particular chaps my rear. Extended flares ain't cheap, and I've heard a lot of jeepers out there say "Illinois code....blah blah....I have to have 'em covered..."

by all means, if you've already got extended flares or just want them, more power to you. I just don't want people thinking they have to have 'em (at least in this state.)

Those Rugged Ridge 7" flares are not very durable. I have a set I bought off ebay last year. My buddy's kids were horsing around near my Jeep, one of them got shoved into my right rear flare and it broke like the cheap plastic it is. I've had gorilla tape holding it together for a while now, i'll definitely give a good review of that Gorilla tape though....

MCE says it will have a 6" wide version of it's super durable plastic CJ style flat fenders out soon. The look and clearance of tube fenders, the toughness and forgiving nature of the material, weight savings, and the coverage of a wider flare, all for the $150-ish range if I remember correctly (I'm too lazy to look it up right now). Their standard width flares have gotten rave reviews on JeepForum, I'm sure Jerry Bransford put a link on here too somewhere.

I'm not impressed by any of RR's plastic trim pieces...their corner guards are JUNK.
The MCEs are about $185 for the standards, not sure about the 6 inchers....not on the site yet.

What state are you in?

Here in VA there are hardly any lift or tire laws. It's pretty awesome.
