Flares. Why so expensive?

I love the looks of aftermarket flares. Can anybody explain to me why 4 pieces of plastic are soooooo damn expensive?

Because they can make them and you can't. I have asked myself the same question before

I was thinking the exact same thing! I realize that this doesn't answer your question but I'm definitely feeling you and this subject.

Actually someone could make them but everyone wants to make a profit :P probably just because of size, they have to buy material, ship them, make them, makeand buy machinery, then ship them back to us, then to you or stores. they mark up for retailers then retailers mark up for you to buy. so 15 dollars of plastic after that whole process leaves you with a few hundred bucks.

A few hundred? I could deal with that. The Bushwacker flats I want are almost $500!

Total, I believe I paid $100-$200 less than I would have from one of those magazines.

[Edit]
I just looked them up, $454.00 regularly. Auto discount of $70.88 to $383.12. They are advertising a coupon of $40 off orders over $399, so unless you want to add a little something, they wouldn't work for ya, but the coupon code "save10" might give you a 10% discount, so that is another 38.31 off. Over $100 off, then $0 shipping and I'm not sure if there is tax. Those would be other savings over the magazines or stores that need to ship them in.

I was also able to get my Warn Bumper items with similar sales/discounts. The only problem is that they don't offer as much as the magazines. So when they have it, I get it from them.

Oh yeah, as a review of the flares, I wish they connected to the Jeep a little bit more sturdier, such as the stock flares. I've had a couple of the screws as they've loosened and been lost. That being said, I am still a LOT happier with these flat flares over the bend down kind. I just thought that I'd mention it, in case if makes a difference to anyone.
