I went through the same thing about 3 weeks ago when I ordered mine...I went with the Smittybilt 6" for $200.
I think they look great and are of the same overall quality of the $500 Bushwhackers. I found the difference to be in the installation. The Smitty's aren't quite as bolt on as they claim. They require a bit of time to get them right...overall I would go with the Smitty's if you don't want to spend $500.

Of course it's the same old story. Truth usually is the same old story.
my guess is mostly payin for a name (think warn), but also some differences in quality. I love the looks of the warn flares but Im not sure I can bring myself to spend that much on plastic that doesnt even really affect the functionality of my jeep. Guess time will tell on that one.
I also got the 7" Rugged Ridge flares. With 12.5 wide tires they cover great.

I agree that big brand names often bring bigger prices, but I don't believe that the more money you spend the better quality the part is. I recently opted to buy the Crown 7 inch extended flares and am extremely happy with the less expensive flares. I feel that they are the same quality as the factory flares and I was able to spend the other money other upgrades.
