Floor jack?

Just wondering what everyone uses to jack up there TJ. I have to get a jack, so I want to know what my best option is before I go and get one. Should I just get a cheap one and throw a 4x4 on top of it?

I would get at least a 6 ton jack and 6ton jack stands to raise it high enough

My advice is to buy a 3-ton or bigger. The next thing is, just one jack isn't enough. The second doesn't have to be a floor jack, but if you have the room, wth. The 6-ton jack stands could save your life. Have fun.

Floor jacks can be extremely useful and versatile. Because of this, you might consider taking it with you wherever you go. After all, guys are always making custom mounts on their Jeeps in order to transport their High Lift jacks, right? So why not do the same with your floor jack?

(Okay, this is something I saw a few years ago that made me laugh. And despite what this guy did, I don't think bungee cords qualify as a sturdy mounting solution.)

Sooooo, you're saying I shouldn't mount it on my bumper!

I got these, price wasn't bad, work GREAT, and wanted something LOW PROFILE
for the other Vehicles in the household, + it lifts to about 24" s.
Low Profile Floor Jack - 2 Ton, Rapid Pump® Jack

And for Stands
6 Ton Jack Stand Set

Pleased with both.

That one is pretty sweet, I just picked this one up (Heavy Duty 3 Ton Floor Jack with Rapid Pump) this afternoon. It works pretty good too.

I got one from Autozone a few years ago thats a 3 ton, "SUV" jack, raises up 24 inches. Seal started leaking a couple of years after I got it, dribbled jack oil all over my garage, capful of brake fluid and has been bone dry since. Lifts the Jeep up for everything I have needed it to.

The little floor jacks that come in plastic carrying cases are nearly useless for a Jeep, they just don't lift high enough to be useful for all commonly done jobs. I use a full-size 2 3/4 ton jack from HFT that has worked well for 15 years so far.
