Smile Flowmaster Or Magnaflow?

I'm gonna put a new exhaust on my tj when I get home, and need to tell the shop which muffler I want to order. What does anyone think of the sound and performance of the flowmaster 40 and the magnaflow? I'd like something I could stand on the interstate, but sounds good when I get on it. thanks

I looked at the banks, and they would be at least double what I would spend on the others.

Go with a flowmaster 50 Delta if you want good deep sound, but you also want interior noise reduction. If you don't care about waking up your neighbors, then get a flowmaster 40 or a magnaflow.

40 is louder than 50...unless flowmasters sight is wrong again

either one is good...magnaflow sounds pretty similar and it has a clean crisp sound...little bit quieter...i think the magnaflow is stainless steel.

i have the 40. i like it and would buy it again but i would also try the magnaflow in a heartbeat.

I like the sound of the 40 series behind my 4.0! It's a healthy mello sound. I've lived through my glass packs and straight pipes childhood and appreciate a mello rumble. Neighbors have nothing to complain about (But then I don't start it with my foot buried to the floor either).

I appreciate all the info, I'm gonna deff. check on the stainless magnaflow, (could explain why it's a little higher than flows.)

I'm considering getting a Magnaflow myself. They have sound/video clips on their page.

honestly...i think flowmaster is more for sound...i've heard the magnaflow flows a bit better and is better performance wise (although i wouldn't expect any noticeable gain)...yet the magna still sounds good

then again, you don't lose anything with flowmaster and it sounds awesome.

My last TJ had a Flowmaster 40 and my buddies had a comparable Magna flow. I liked his sound better. Not quite as loud and little more mellow.

I've got dual flows on my hemi 4wd, and it gets a little loud. I love it around town, but I can't sneak around the hunting camp and my wife knows when I leave or arrive home
I know I wouldn't get that kind of sound from my 4.0, but then I don't take my top off my truck either. So mellow sound with better flow for performance is starting to sound like magnaflows calling card.

The Flowmaster 50, or the magnaflow are the most mellow.

lol...you kinda implied that the 50 was louder, when you said the 50 had a deep sound and then said if you don't care about waking up neighbors (hence being quieter) then get a 40...least it sounded like it.

hemi sounds awesome

When I said if you don't care about waking up the neighbors I was talking about the 40. They both have a deep sound, the 40 is just louder

i went from the Magnaflow to the Delta 40 series. Why? because the Magnaflow sounded wimpy to me.I did my homework when i chose the Delta 40 series.Flowmasters webset has soundclips of their different models.I was instantly happy when i fired it up after installation. No regrets.I even sold my old Mag for $20 at the shop.LOL!

which means the 50 is also a good choice if you don't want to wake up neighbors

Might actually look into the Flowmaster super 44. I've only heard good things about it.

when i come in late i shut the enigne off at the bottom of the hill, and also dont jake brake through the hill now, but i still have to make it up the driveway which is pretty steep so i have to be going like 40 when i shut it off, its quite exciting taking the turn into my driveway still going like 20 with a a drop off and a retaining wall on either side!
i havnt done it in the dark yet though, ive just been practicing to get good at it for when i need to do it

When you're single and don't live with your parents you can power block the jeep in the driveway if you want.

well i cant as of now, but it is fun when people are being idiots and walikng on the wrong side of the road facing away from traffic, to lay on the horn, put the clutch in REV the engine and swerve, they turn around and their eyes get HHUUUGGEEE.
