Fog light switch

Hey everyone, I'm a newbie. I have an '02 TJ and the switch for my fog lights (which is the same for my headlights) is either broken or has a short. The problem is that my fog lights will stay on all the time. The only way I can avoid them killing my battery is to disconnect them. Anyone have any suggestions to remedy this?

Greatly appreciated!

I believe you will find either the switch or the relay (which I would guess) has the contacts stuck. To check the relay, just locate the fog light relay and remove it and the lights should go out.

Open the hood
Locate the main fuse box (passenger side, just forward of the battery)
Open main fuse box
Pull the fog light relay (the diagram in the fuse box lid should have it listed)

There was a post awhile back about this and where to get a new stalk switch. I'm sorry I can't remember when, and I'm not allowed to suggest that you use the search feature.

Thanks guys. I'll do some more research on here to get it fixed. How hard do you think it would be to replace the entire switch?

Switch issue...common not just to the jeeps but other Chrysler autos with the foglight switch stalk.

The stalk is simple to change out. just remove the column cover (2 screws) and then you will see where the stalk is screwed down...remove those screws,,,unplug the connectors and install new switch. Simple job and takes 5 to 10 minutes.
