Fog Light Switch Problem

01 Wrangler Sport, factory fog lights. On several occasions now I have come outside to find my foglights on. The switch is in the in/off position and the headlights are in the off position. I can move the blinker switch and turn them off as if a short was in there.

Anyone experienced this and have a fix? I assume the switch has gone bad maybe?

EDIT TO ADD:

I found this thread for this same problem after posting.

Yep, you found the answer, your multi function headlight switch is toast. Dealer wants about $250 here, but I found a place on the net to replace mine for $60. Apparently it's fairly common problem with the TJ. Just don't forget to transfer over your hazard relay when you change the switch or your hazards won't work.

Fog Light Switch

I am having the same problem. To save the battery I pulled the fuse under the hood. I want to put these lights on a separate toggle switch. Anyone have a set of part numbers and instructions for this?

Fog Light switch

I really don't want to replace the switch what I want to do is put the fog light on a separate toggle on or under the dash.

Very easy to do - I switched/ and spliced into the harness out on driver's side fender a couple years ago works great!!

I am having troubles to get my fog lights to come on.... When i bought it the guy told me he just never used the lights and unplugged them right behind where they were installed..... So i plugged them back in and turned the switch and nothing... I checked the fuse and it was good and I even checked to see if it was getting any juice at the light and the fuse and both did not show positive for getting juice.... So now I am stuck. There has to be something in between but I was wondering if anyone else has any other possible solutions before I pull my hair out..... THANKS

Fog Lights Switch

When I got my used 97 TJ the fog lights also didn't work either. Changed out the pricy switch, and work fine now. Just a worn out switch.

Fog Lights Switch

No, on my 97TJ the switch for the fog lights is in the center under the radio. Has space for 3 switches. (rear window wiper, fog lights, rear window heat strips) Think this was changed in 02 and up models.
