Fog light wiring Diagram help...

I trying to figure out why my factory fog light aren't working. I have checked the relay in the PDC. I have a wiring diagram for an 02 but some of the wires are different colors.

I have 4 wires going into the slot where the relay is in the PDC. Wh/Or stripe, BLK, Wh/Or stripe and Grn/Wht stripe (biggest gauge wire of the four.

The BLK, Wht/Or and Grn/Wht are all on one side of the relay. Wht/Or in the middle to the fog lights. I can take a wire straight from the battery pos. and to that terminal and the fog lights come on. Also, when the light switch in off.. I get 11.5v out the other Wht/Org wire (by itself on the left of the relay) when the light switch is on I get 12.5v. put a jumper from that wire to the other Wht/Org (headed to fog lights) and nothing comes on.. really confused.

Hopefully all my ramblings didnt confuse ppl on whats going on...

So any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated or even if you might happen to have a wiring schematic for an 05.

Thanks!

Rick

My new tJ is an '06, but I have yet to get a wiring diagram. If anyone has the service manual PDF and wants to send it to me, I will explain the circuit and help diagnose the problem.

No, search the forum all I believe you have to do is bend a pin on the relay. I do not have factory fogs.

I do not have the FSM yet, but found some info in my 01 FSM.

Black is ground it should always measure no more than .2 volts under any condition.

White orange comes from the multi-function (light) switch. It should be +12V when the high beam is off and the fogs are on. This is the “other” wht/orange in your post. The 01 manual says it is fused
Orange stripe on Green must be the relay coil. It should have 12V on it when the fogs should be on. (the black ground is one side of the relay coil and the other side of the coil is connected to this wire.
Fuse 19 in the power distribution box feeds the multifunction switch. Fuse 1 and Fuse 16 may also be involved. The multi-function switch diagram is not detailed enough to be sure.
Two things must be OK to light the fogs:

1. there must be 12V on the wire coming from the multi-function switch.
2. There must be 12V on the Ostripe/green to pick the relay. When the relay is picked, the 12V from the multifunction switch is connected thru the relay contact to the wire going to the fogs.

The fog lamp relay is an electromechanical switch that uses a low current input from the multi-function switch to control a high current output to the fog lamps. The movable common feed contact point is held against the fixed normally closed contact point by spring pressure. When the relay coil is energized, an electromagnetic field is produced by the coil windings. This electromagnetic field draws the movable relay contact point away from the fixed normally closed contact point, and holds it against the fixed normally open contact point. When the relay coil is de-energized, spring pressure returns the movable contact point back against the fixed normally closed contact point. A resistor is connected in parallel with the relay coil in the relay, and helps to dissipate voltage spikes and electromagnetic interference that can be generated as the electromagnetic field of the relay coil collapses.

The fog lamp relay terminals are connected to the vehicle electrical system through a connector receptacle in the Power Distribution Center (PDC). The fog lamp relay can be diagnosed using conventional diagnostic tools and methods. Refer to the appropriate wiring information for diagnosis and testing of the fog lamp micro-relay and for complete wiring diagrams.
