fog lights won't turn on

I have a 2003 TJ that I purchased about a year ago. I recently decided to try to figure out why my fog lights wonít work. I checked for current at the fogs and found that I have no juice at the lights. I donít know if all TJís are like this but I have the fuse box as well as a bank of relays located under the hood right next to one another on the passenger side. I checked the fuse and it looks good and I also have power at the fuse butÖ.I noticed that the relay for the fog lights is missing. So I borrowed one of the other relays, they all look the same, and as soon as I put the relay in, the the indicator light on the dash came on even though I hadnít turned on the switch on the lever. When I did turn on the switch, I have the stock switch, the one that is part of the headlight switch, the fog lights still would not come on. Iím thinking the previous owner took out the relay because he knew he had a problem. Iím over my head here Ė not the most knowledgeable when it comes to this kind of stuff. Iím thinking maybe a bad switch though. Anybody got any thoughts? THANKS

that is a common fix for the bad "multi-function switch" they are known to go bad. easy to replace they say.....but I just put in a toggle for the fogs on the dash...that switch was on Backorder and very pricey in my opinion.

they are really easy to replace but i fixed mine that made it heard i will replace it if it happens again. its four Philips head screws that i know of, two might be something ells mine were missing. two under the wheel splits the trim and two on the switch and two plugs on the switch one on ether side. to install reverse, Done
just got my fist jeep 3/3/12, we'll see how it goes

fog light relays

I am working on the same problem 2001 Wrangler

The BOOK says there are two relay switches

One in the power supply box under the hood puts 12 volts to the fog lights

the other I have not found

This relay turns off the fog lights when you turn on your high beams
I found it here
