For all the people...

Who have friends that think BMWs are better than Jeeps... This was a vet that had marine stickers all over his car. So why doesn't he own a Jeep instead of a BMW is beyond me...

I'll bet his jeep is his nice car and the BMW is his daily driver.

Personally I'd sell the BMW and drive the Jeep as a daily Driver.

Actually as bad as I hate BMW's, I might just give the pos away.

Who says that you can't have both and love them both.
(The BMW has felt a little lonely since I bought the Jeep though)

well, BMW did sink $2.2 BILLION into South carolina's economy when American manufacturer were doing the opposite and going overseas...Not to mention that they are sinking another $750 MILLION this year alone, to expand production and create more AMERICAN jobs! Maybe that is why he owns a BMW...i really can't think of a small 4dr "american" sedan that is made in America...well i guess there is the CTS.

I didn't know that either, what I'm saying is that most, not all, people that drive a BMW think their better than everyone else. I wasn't putting down the company, just some of the people that drive them.

My main problem with BMW is the drivers of the car. All of them here in Va Beach are stuck up idiots texting or using both hands to talk on the phone and NOT paying attention to their surroundings. They feel that since they have a beamer they are better than everybody else and those of us NOT in a bmw need to cater to them and get out of their way, I had one they other day tell me I had to get out of her personal parking spot, me and my wife were in out Chevy Malibu not the Jeep and we weer at wal mart, not her friggin driveway, thats what I told her too. Believe it or not she actually called the cops to have my car towed out of a free open parking spot LMAO.

I tried to video it, but the cop said I couldn't legally without her written permission, and he recommended that since she was so mad that my car wasn't towed (imagine that) that I probably should just laugh and watch her walk away.
My wifes aunt is another story, and your gonna love this one, she has a bmw, but thats not why I hate her, I hate her because since the first day I met here 18 years ago she has been nothing but a B**tch to me and my family, I came home one day hand her bmw that she bought with the ins money from her late husband that she killed from stressing him out was parked in my driveway, I've told here to remain OFF my property several times that she is trespassing when she is on my property, so this time I didn't even go in the house, I got a chain hooked it up to the tie down on here frame and the recovery hook on my back end ans slapped my little biddy 4 banger in 4 lo and yanked her pos out into the street, then parked in my driveway She called the cops tow, and got arrested for trespassing LMAO. She or her car haven't been back since.

Well Wolfen, I guess that in your eyes, I'm a terrible person just because I own and drive a BMW. Yes I am proud of it. I worked hard for it. I bought it new and have owned it for 28 years now. It has never let me down. Yes there are those that think that they are better than you because they own a BMW or Mercedes or Audi but it is not a rule. I love my BMW and I love my Jeep. I wrench on both of them, but they do not reflect who or what kind of person I am. I'm sorry that you feel that a vehicle defines the character of the driver.

you also have to understand that in a professional workplace, driving a bmw, mercedes, audi, etc is the norm and to keep peace at your 6 figure job, you drive what the jones drive to work, then go home and do you own thing. you have to pick your battles and rocking the boat that puts food on the table isnt one of those battles.
also, if you dress nice to work, take co-workers or clients out, make work calls when driving, a jeep is not good with any of that if you off-road. your seats will be dirty, you car is noisy, etc. so rather than do without, you do both.

If you worked hard for it and didn't get a newer one just cause you can, and have respect for others on the road then no you ain't a bad person. Its just the ones around here.

My grandfather owns a successful body shop that specializes in foreign cars such as bmw and mercedes. I worked there for a couple years doing oddjobs one of which was delivering and driving these cars. I've driven everything from 2011 bmws to Mercedes to porsches to aston martins to shelby gt 500s. Id pick my jeep everyday (altho the Shelby and aston are pretty close lol

Yea thats why work where I work, I tried military computer network administrator thing long enough to be told I needed to get rid of my old 89 S-10 Blazer and buy a "suitable" vehicle, and that job was only 5 figures. I kept th Blazer. they can run their own computer networks, I refuse to sell a vehicle just to wear a tie.

You guys are arguing about something that does not matter! all that matters is what the vehicle does for you and if it does it well.
who can say that 100% of Wrangler owners are actually off-road enthusiasts? heck, half the wranglers and most trucks i see on the road have 20'' chrome wheels for god's sake! but that doesn't make every wrangler owner is an idiot.
But also, who is to say that if you drive a wrangler, you must be an offroader? a lot of people just like the look...some like that the top and doors come off on hot summer days...some like to offroad, and i like to put my kayaks on top and head to the river! fact is, the wrangler does all those things better than any other street legal vehicle, and that's why it is still popular after 60 years of production! although i think Chrysler is getting off track with it now.
BMW on the other hand, i believe makes the best all around vehicles on the road today, and have all along. i am not saying that because they are expensive, or because people with 6 figure income drive them, i am saying that because i honestly think that BMWs, whether a small 1 series, midsize 3 series, full size 5 series, luxurious 7 series, small and big SUVs (X5, X3) or the unproportionality gigantic 2 door 6 series, no matter which you drive, it can be on the road at moderate speeds and be good, you can take it across the country on a 3 day road trip and it will be good, you can take any of the series to the track, and my god are they good, you can drive them to your office where you make 6 figures and they are good, you can get on the freeway and hit the electronic limiter at 155MPH and it will feel like 70MPH... BMW manages to make their vehicles (big or small) do all those things very well...and i believe they are the only ones that do.

I am not going to argue that some of the people driving them are stuck up jerks, but i will argue what makes a car american. The government requires that every year, automakers disclose what percentage of a new vehicles' components are U.S. or Canadian and where the vehicle was assembled. If you take a look at those reports, you will sadly find that there are more foreign cars assembled in the U.S than American cars. so logically, buying a Honda that is designed in japan and made/assembled in Ohio or Alabama, or a Toyota designed in japan and made in Kentucky, California, Texas, or Indiana, is much more benefiting for the U.S economy because they create good paying American jobs for American tax payers, and not to mention the billions they pay in property and revenue taxes, where as buying a Chevy, ford, dodge, or Chrysler that is made in Mexico, Canada, China, Egypt, Russia, or Iran! those companies who call themselves american, create jobs overseas as American people are loosing their homes, and pay taxes to governments that hate our country......So you tell me, which is the american company?

I guess it would depend on where the corporate offices are and where the "big wigs" put their money and lived and what local economy they supported. I could be wrong but would think the upper management and the corporation "make more money" and have more discretionary income than most factory workers. Just my .02

So you think the CEOs of those companies are banking their Millions at U.S bank and wells fargo? or do they have their money spread out in multiple swiss and dubai accounts?
Do you think they go shopping at their local Ace hardware store, home depot, menards...etc, to fix their sink? or do they hire some world class designer from France or Italy to fly in and take care of that stuff for them?
Do you think they go shopping for cloths at their local targets, khols, sears, JCpenney...etc, which provide jobs for american teens and college students or do they fly to Paris to do their shopping?
Do you think they go out for a family night with their 2.3 kids at the local Ma & Pa's small restaurant, or other local restaurant or do they take their private jets to Japan for world class sushi?
And do you think the income taxes that Ford's CEO pays on his $28 Million dollar salary (which he got thanks to the bail out from tax payer's money) is better for the American economy than the 387,386 (and rising) job positions Toyota provides for American workers who shop at their local stores and bank at their local banks?
And just to give a comparison...currently, Toyota employs more than 387,000 American tax payers and rising every year, Honda employs more than 180,000 and rising.... Chrysler employs 129,000 and falling, GM employs 210,000 and falling, Ford employs 87,700 and falling.
Just those two Japanese manufacturers combined employ 140,000 more Americans than all three "american" manufacturers combined.....And you still have Nissan, Mitsubishi, Subaru, and Mazda to take into consideration.

The statistics and facts are there for everyone to read when deciding to buy a car and wants to boost the American economy...but most people think if it says Chevrolet, GMC, Ford.. etc. on the grill, than it is american.

I wouldn't put 20" chrome rims on anything.

Oh and just for the recored of how I stand, if ANY car say Made in America, then it should be made in America, and I mean ALL of it, every single nut bolt circuit glass piece, tire wheel each thread in the interior, EVERYTHING, NOTHING should be made anywhere outside of the United States. Some will say I buy parts made in Japan or China, yea, I do but only because I am FORCED to. I'd much rather spend a little more or wait until i can and have parts made in America when ever I can. Which is why I make most of the accessories I have.
