For those with Poison Spyder Hood Louvers

Just curious as to how many of you re-installed your hood insulation.

I have an 05 LJ and my hood insulation is really brittle and falls apart just by handling it. Also, not sure how well it would have hung in there after cutting out the areas for the louvers to breathe.

Anyway, post up and let me know if you re-installed it (per the directions) or not.

Dana

I have an early TJ therefore it never had the hood insulation. I wouldn't reinstall it, It's only purpose was to reduce noise and since you would be cutting holes in it that would render it useless.

I've got the Hyline Offroad hood vents on my 97.
Originally I was going to cut holes in the hood insulation and re-install it but decided against it - looked like the hood insulation would lose all its support with big holes cut in it and hang down in parts.
Also, I really like the look without the insulation - lots of folks want to see the vents from underneath and it's nice not having the muddy oily blanket hanging there.

Seems counter productive to reinstall it. The point of the louvers is to remove heat, the insulation does the opposite.

It is actually a fire blanket. It is also designed to keep the paint safe from prolonged heat exposure. I would think you'd be ok without it as I have seen many/most tj's without it and they are fine. Make your own decision on keeping or removing but I think any time you remove something from your jeep, you should know exactly what it does so you can make an informed decision
