They are about the same. If you can weld or know someone who can get the 8.8, in the long run it will be cheaper.

The 8.8 is stronger. If you can find a D44 out of a TJ/LJ for a reasonable price I'd go that route. If not go with the 8.8.

A built 8.8 is borderline D60 strong.
D44 is a direct bolt in.
