Frameless soft top

I have decided to sell the hard top and convert to soft top. Would like a couple of opinions please. 1) besttop trek nx or rampage?
2) where is the best place service and price wise to purchase from?
Will probably have to order in next day or so, didn't expect hard top would sell so quickly. Btw, I will need all hardware involved as I now have full doors and hard top only. Thanks for any input.

I have the rampage frameless top with best top door surrounds. Best top door surrounds come with an extra support for the front of the roof which stops sag when it rains.

Trektop NX hands down. Much better quality top that uses an actual windshield header rather than a cheap safari/bikini top style channel. The material is thicker. And it also has the awesome sunrider feature. The big plus for you is that it comes with ALL hardware needed. The windshield header, a tailgate bar with clips, and door surrounds.Rampage comes with nothing but the top.

I like the clean, smooth look of the Trektop NX.

I don't like the "tent" look.

So, with the Trektop NX, you use the windshield header to attach the top?

You don't need anything else there? How does the NX attach, if you don't need a channel?

Can you post a picture or two, looking at the front of the Jeep, with the top on?

The front attaches like a factory style top using the "clamps" to grab the windshield frame. Look in the video at 4:40 to get a good look at it.

I've got the rampage frameless soft top and love it! Got it on amazon for $354 (hardware not included)... You would just need to pick up door surrounds, a tailgate bar and windsheild header (not sure how much those are... Had them with the tj when we bought it). I usually will remove the doors, side windows and back flap and utilize it as a full body bikini top when it's nice out. It's also got a pouch and built in pocket to store the windows.

I love my rampage top as well, but it the best top is also a very good choice. I guess it all comes down to features vs cost. I think either is a good choice personally. Love the fast back look too!

I think going with trektop nx, complete package, quality product from what I have seen. 585 with free shipping at Morris, everything on eBay and amazon pretty comparable. Checked 4 wheel parts for the hell of it, 590 for the black diamond and have one in stock 15 minutes from the house. Bonus not waiting on shipping. Now if I can find a coupon code for them I will be in business for sure!

Bestop trektop nx hands down. So much better and comes with everything you need.

I also went from a hardtop to this top with no hardware and they give you everything you need.

I purchased my NX from 4wd.com. They had a $75 promo card (not sure if it's still going on or not). It was $590 ($525 after promo). I love mine. It's tight and quiet.

Curious, how much experience do you have with frameless tops? Reason why you are not considering the factory OEM frame style top(which has ALOT of functional advantages)?

It's ugly and dated compared to the "slope back" on the Bowless tops. I'm assuming as that's why I got mine Instead of the factory.

Same reason I got mine, I have no need for the OEM top which I sold to buy my frameless

Have had a few factory soft top jeeps and never been a fan of them in general, always preferred hard tops to framed soft tops. My jeep will become more of a non dd soon, so want something easy to remove when I pull it out of the garage. Plus I just think they look pretty good.

My vote is Trektop NX as well. I have had mine for two years, and not a bit of problems with it. About $575 and free shipping from Morris 4x4. If their web site doesn't advertise free shipping, call them and tell them you are a member on this forum. They typically will waive the S&H.

Recommend the Black Diamond over the denim. Very durable fabric. Read up on the installs here (I think I posted one back when I got mine). It needs to be installed on a warm sunny day so that the material will flex a little. It's a very tight fit at the onset, but after a few on/off sessions, you'll be a pro at it. Just follow the directions exactly, regardless of what your internal instruction manual tells you :-)

Oddly enough I love that tent look, but cost wise the frameless is probably better if you have to replace a whole top, and it doesn't look bad at all.

Can someone who recently bought the Trek NX please take a picture of the area where the rear straps connect to the spreader bar? I have a first generation top (bought the same month it came out) and the channel for the rear window pulled out of the top. Ive been babying it for 3 years now and I figure I have another 3 years before I need a new top. Have they changed anything there?

Here is a picture of the area:

Here is a picture of my fix:

As you can see it used to pull down right on the channel and we added a spreader to take some of the pressure off of the channel with some rivets, screws, and polyurathane.

I don't like the "pointed" tent look. But, if you install a sound bar, I guess you'll have more of a "dome" look in the middle.
