Frameless Top on the TJ fulltime?

I only have a softop on the TJ and need a new one. Have a 6yr old Bestop Sunrider, don't really like the door surround and the way the top velcro attaches, it is worn out and needs to be replaced.

I was looking at the new Bestop Trex top:
Bestop 56820-15 - Bestop® Trektop NX for 97-06 Jeep® Wrangler TJ - Quadratec

Question is, is a running a frameless top full time, as your main top, is it a good idea? Will it hold up? Or is it more of a seasonal top for when you take off the hard top?

I run my Trektop on my JK year round and don't have any issues. It's just as strong as a regular framed top. If you're concerned about snow and ice making it sag, then just don't let it pile up. If it starts snows, I go out and brush off of the top of there's over an inch or so on it.

I don't have a Trektop, but the Softopper is the only top I have, so, it's a year-round top. Snow wasn't an issue for it at all (the roll bar will hold more than the stock frame ever could) and it was warm enough even for Chicago.

x2, the issue with winter for framed tops is the frame is fairly weak and snow will bend it. On a frameless top the roll cage is the frame, not going to bend that. This last winter I wasn't able to keep the snow off the top (Rampage frameless) and we got a couple good dumps (1-2 feet). No issues an I'm going on 3 years with the top.

Installed a Rampage and intend to run it most of the year.. will go with Spiderwebshade in the summer, Rampage the rest of the year.
