Free beer and false advertising!!!

I'm about to purchase some m/t sidebiters for my Tj. My question is 15x8 or 15x10, I will be putting bfg all terrain 33x12.5r15 on them. I did use the search function and ended up having more question. Why can you air down more with an 8" rim? Does the extra weight off the 10" rim bog you down that much more? When in mud will the extra tire width got you stuck easier? Oh and sorry about lying the free beer

What! No beer?

No beer = No help

BFG recommends a 9" wheel for the 12.5" wide tires, but I have run many on 8" wheels on many different vehicles.

I like whisky.

It's real simple. Tire pressure is what keeps the beads of the tire seated on the rims.

Less tire pressure equals less pressure against that wheel. Now space the rims of the wheels out another 2 inches from each other. The same amount of air will not hold that tire on a 10" wide wheel as well as a 8" wide wheel.

Also, How far the tire sticks out from the Jeep has more to do with backspacing than wheel width. Think of a stock Rubi wheel. Same width as my 15x8 wheels, but with less backspacing (numerically higher). That is why wheel spacers are used by Rubi owners that want to keep their cool wheels, and run a wide tire without rubbing.

I have run both 33x12.5 tires and now 35x12.5 tires on 15x8 wheels. I air down to 8psi most of the time and 5 psi on deep snow runs. Never had a problem.

x2..the 15x8 wheel is more suited for the 12.5" wide tire. It will offer more sidewall protection and will hold the beads better for air down.

Go for the 15x8 if you offroad. Yes you can air down to a lower air pressure with that size tire mounted on a 15x8 wheel than you could with a 15x10 wheel. It takes less air pressure to hold the tire's beads firmly seated against two edges that are 8" apart than if they were 10" apart.
