Cool Front and Rear Gear upgrade QUESTION...

About a month ago I added a Skyjacker 2' Spring Spacer lift kit with Nitros shocks to my 1997 TJ. I replaced the 30x12.5x15's with 33x12.5x15's.
I am not sure if I need to upgrade the gearing or not.

Can anyone suggest what gearing is preferred or what I should use with my existing setup?

It would help to know what kind of gears are already in your TJ....

Trans type would help too.

you have the 3 speed auto and 4.0 (according to your sig) you will want 4.10 gears to turn the 33's. 4.56 if you want to step up to 35's anytime in the future.

Thanks for the advise, should I keep the front and rear the same or lower in the front?

Both the front and rear MUST be the same if you plan on using 4x4.

I am with stumpbuster...
I have 33s on 3.73
Yea its slow. yea i can't go 70 uphill, but when I think about complaining, I think about all the places i spent the saved money.
My plan is to stick with the 3.73 and regear to 4.56 with 35s...

I am going to stay with the 33's and have decided to change the gearing and add locks.

if you have the rear dana 35, I would consider at least a shaft upgrade, as low gears and lockers will turn it into a broken axle at some point... or look for a junk yard dana 44..
