Front axle U-joint

so today when i was putting new rotors and pads on i had checked my front axle u joints and the driver side was nice and tight like she should be , but the pass side has some up and down play in it also when you switch spin direction theres a tiny bit of play in it. how hard is it to replace?

Can be done in under 30 mins, but give yourself at least an hr your 1st time to figure it all out. You also might want to put a new joint on the other side was well for peace of mind. Oh an its not a hard job, sometimes the bolts are just frozen and a breaker bar is needed on the 12pt bolts on the back side.

You can't do better than to upgrade that Spicer 5-297x the factory installed with Spicer's stronger and more durable 5-760x which is a direct replacement.

Here's how to replace the u-joint.... U-Joint Replacement - 1

Here's how to get the axle shaft out... D-30 Axle Shaft Removal

Check with your local drivetrain shop as well, sometimes they will carry or be able to get the Spicer U-joints.
