Front Brake Pad and Rotor Replacement (pics)

Wanted to share my front brake job and rotor replacement success and things that were a PITA. Used Centric Premium Rotor and Posi Quiet Pads, btw. Removal of Caliper 13MM bolts with 13mm rachet wrench (nice) was easy and caliper came off old rotor with help of large flat head screwdriver. Then removed worn pads and push piston back w/ HD scrap metal and C-Clamp. Hung calpier on coil w/ piece electrical wire to get it out of the way (work nicely).

However, the rotor were a bastard but I was patient. Yesterday, I removed some rust around hub and rotor and it wounldn't budge. Went crazy with the PB Blaster and sprayed for about 3 hours @ 30 min intervals. Cleaned up and drank beer while waiting. Called it a night w/o attempting to break apart rotor from hub. This morning, used hammer on backside and rotated axial shaft and rotors broke free after 8 hits each.

Used brake cleaner, 3m scuff pads, & anti-sieze on caliper knuckle for pads as well as hub/rotor contact. New pads and rotors install was a non-issue and simple.

The next time you are removing a stuck rotor you aren't going to keep, instead of hitting it from the back side, hit the top of it inwards away from you and it will pop it right off no matter how stuck it is.

Great, thanks for info! I will be doing the rear brakes in a week or two. I'll try it.
