I just got my own TJ Jeep and was wondering what type of bumper I should get. I'm kinda a Prepper and was wondering what would be the strongest and most reliable bumber for me, personally I want something I could hit and get hit in and keep on going and I want it to be reaching tire to tire kinda long and tall. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great.
I'd start by Googling aftermarket TJ Bumpers, that will give you options. Then when you find something YOU like, check reviews. You can also go into build threads and see what you like...
I'll tell my Jeep came with a Smittbilt XRC, probably not what I would've bought myself, but it's a beast of a bumper!
Even the toughest bumpers on the market aren't designed to be battering rams. I think you would have better luck drawing up something and having it custom made.
After much researching and looking at bumpers on the forum I went with JCR Offroad Crusader midwidth front and back. Just installed a few weeks ago. Very well built and made in the USA. Might not be the best bumper if working with a tight budget but very good quality.
It all depends on what you want...minimal, full-width, winch capable, etc.
I've got a Smittybilt SRC right now, that's busily rusting away, and on my workbench in the basement, I've got a AtoZ fab bumper to put together this spring.
Rokmen gets my vote. I just wrecked a few weeks back, hit black ice on the highway. Front end took a direct hit, and that bumper only has a few scratches.
You can see the roller fairlead is smashed, but the hoop completely protected the winch.
I ordered a crawler concepts skinny about a month ago. I loved the look but damn they are slow shipping.
