Question Front Bumper

So I would like to upgrade my front bumper. Looking at options, and going through the Quadratec catalog and seeing that the JK's have many more options for the type of bumpers that appeal to me, than the TJs. My question is, has anyone modified a JK bumper to fit a TJ? And if so, what all has to be done?

What bumpers for the JK were you looking at?

For a quick example from Quadratec something like the AEV premium. I would even consider the Stock JK bumper. I think it would look good on a TJ. Just my opinion.

Yes you can put a JK bumper on a TJ. It's been done. Note the JK is wider. If you are looking a full width JK bumper, it will look odd. A stubby will work better.

OK thanks, I was thinking the stubby anyways. I would also like to maintain the JK foglight setup. Now to find one in my area. LOL

Tons of Jeeps around here but not very many parts yards have Jeeps. I guess that's a good sign.

Neil, do you know of any write ups on putting a JK bumper on a TJ. I just scored one with the fog light holes for free. Also looking and trying to figure out how to get the original off. Is it just the 4 tow hook bolts and the two underneath?

Today I measured out the two bumpers. I will be cutting 8.5" off both sides of the factory TJ bumper for it to fit inside the JK bumper. Once I have that done then I will drill the holes to mount the JK bumper. I will take pics as I go and do a write up at the end as well if there is interest.

Today I cut the 8.5" off each side of the stock bumper. Tonight I will make the template of the stock bumper then lay it inside the JK bumper to get the correct measurements for the bolt holes to drill in the stock bumper to mount the JK bumper.

First look of the JK bumper on my TJ. Tomorrow I will do the final fitment and get the washers and nuts to attach it to the TJ bumper. It comes out even with the edge of my flares. I think I will be very happy with it.
