Front license plate mount?

Hey all. Since I'm in New Jersey I'm going to need to mount a front license plate when my temporary tags expire. I bought my 03 TJ in Pennsylvania and though the stock bumper has a bunch of pre-cut holes, it never had a bracket or plate. The two holes closest to the center seem right for mounting a plate, but they're oval and I don't have anything that will thread into them. Accessing the rear of the bumper cover to attach a nut or something doesn't seem immediately obvious either.

Can anyone suggest a clean, simple mounting solution that uses these existing holes? I'd rather not drill if possible. Does anyone know how it was done if a TJ was sold new in a state like NJ?

for a basic need get you something like this, it should work for you.

Dorman 395-012 - License Bolt | O'Reilly Auto Parts

You push those plastic things into the holes you have on your bumper, and the groves will hold it in place to the bumper, line your plate over the hole and put in your in your screws and Boom! License plate mounted.

I just mounted my plates last werkend. The plastic anchors were hard to get in so I cut two tabs off with a knife and it worked fine.

Did the jeeps ever come (or do they make) the plastic license plate holder like most other vehicles have. My front plate is just bolted directly to the bumper but I was in some deep snow earlier this winter and the bottom of my plate bent back under the bumper. If it was a State plate I wouldn't care but this was my Thomson Center plate that I got from TC.

I went to lowes and bought these nutsert like things, they're rubber with a nut at the back, as you tighten them, the rubber expand and the plate stays. Spent like $2 on them and some machine screws. forget the size though...

They look something like this and come in individual bags in the pull out drawers of the nuts and bolts section

You can buy a plate mount at any auto parts store.

The OEM plate mounting is done with oval shaped plastic inserts, similar to the ones 01TJSE linked. They may not be too expensive from a dealer, but who knows.

Standard license plate mounting bolts with the white plastic deals work on the same bumper -- just pound the plastic nut-like-things into the oval holes, then screw into those.
