full traction 4" ultimate lift kit...

lookin at this kit for sometime in the next few months

OffroadToyStore

what do you think? I would also need to buy shocks at a later time so what size should I be looking for if I don't want to get it from FT? I would like pro's and con's of this kit if anyone is running it.

does anyone know of a place that sells them cheaper? thanks for your help.

Love my 3" FT kit. I actually got 4.25" of lift from it. No vibes. Good articulation. Rides like a dream. Running OME long travel shocks.

how much did the OEM long shocks run ya?

I also have a 1" body lift ready to put on later too so that will help with the 35" BFG M/T I'm getting from my dad for free... 85% tread.

I bought the shocks from Scout here on the forum. They had around 1k miles on them, so they were basically new. I'm also running a 1" body lift coupled with the 4.25" suspension lift, and I have TONS of room for the 33" tires I'm running. There's plenty of room for 35's, but I've got crappy axles (D30/D35) so I didn't want to run 35's without beefing up my running gear yet.

I run the FT 4" Ultimate lift with a 1" BL and 35's. I have had the lift on the Jeep for a year plus, and the springs are holding up fine. I did add a set of 3/4" spacers on the front to level out the Jeep when I installed the lift. I went with Bilstein 5100 shock, they seem to be a good match for the lift. I think if you went with soft shocks you would have a lot of rear steer. I went with a SpinTech 6222 muffler, and had a shop custom bend the tail pipe over the tri link. For the muffler and SS tail pipe work, I spent $175.00. You will need longer brake lines on the front. Take the FT disconnects and pitch them in the trash.

How much clearance do you really gain with the lift kit? I was sitting next to another Wrangler today that must have sat a foot higher than my stocker, but the ground clearance looked basically the same. You aren't really moving that differential up much higher are you?

Only way to move the differential higher is with bigger tires. A suspension lift creates more space between the diffs and the frame, effectively lowering the diffs, creating more room for bigger tires that raise the diffs. See? Clear as mud!

Like I said, I got over 4" of lift from their 3" kit, the 4" Ultimate kit may give you substantially more than 4", but I'm not running that one, so I'm not sure what you'll get.

As for the discos, if you keep them lubed, they're fine......you don't need to trash them. Proper maintenance, people, goes a LONG way.

thanks guys I think this is the kit I'm going to go with. I have the shitty axles too but still gonna try the 35's hell they are free why not huh... or maybe I'll just sell them and get some that actually fit my current rims I'm runnin. 19" wheels would look pretty goofy on my rig.

I do proper maintenance on my Jeep. I have been running JKS disconnects for 36000 miles, and Currie LCA's and Front UCA for 39000 miles with no problems in the salt belt.

You say you've been running JKS discos for 36,000 miles........did you ever even install the FT discos? Or did you trash them because you already were using the JKS discos? I maintain mine and have had no problems with them at all.
