I tried the damn 2" BB and although I had great luck on my last TJ, this one has been a freakin mess. Can't get the damn thing aligned right and seem to have some slight vibes. Chose the 2" to avoid all that since it's my DD, but hell, if I'm dealing with it anyway, may as well do it right and get a 3" kit that comes with the rear trk bar relo brkt, tcase drop, etc. (like I should have done in the first place).

I'm looking at:
*Teraflex Basic kit locally for $400 even. http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?pid=3T
*Rusty's 3" Basic kit is $515 delivered. http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/mercha...ys&Product_Code=TJ3K&Category_Code=sus_tj_kit
*FullTraction is $500 delivered (comes with a front adjustable track bar and brakeline extensions which the others do not). http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?partID=13089

:wavey: So this is where you great WF folks come in...need some feedback on these 3 lifts I'm looking at.

I see I'm not the only one who had probs with the 2" BB. I'm thinking of different lift , but I heard something about a SYE and other probs. Its costly and since its my DD, I'm not sure and not sure I want to get involed. Im thinking of throwing my 32's on with no lift and see what happens. I'll check what responses you get.

At this point I'm not even sure the problem is even a vibe issue. I say this, b/c after the lift I found one helluva deathwobble issue on certain road situations. Got it aligned at the dealer and got some vibes. Now I'm being told I need to lower tcase, add cam bolts, front track bar. My thought is, if I'm going to do all of that, I'll do it for a better lift. Might be faulty logic on my part.

Go with the full traction kit, you will not be disappointed. Also while you are at it..pick up a 1" body lift and 1" Motor Mount lift and you should be all straight. If you want more details on the Full Traction kit just send me a note...i installed the kit back in March.

I have installed 3 (mine and 2 club members) of the FT 3" Ecno lifts so far. Doing another next month. Its very good lift and the adj front tract bar is a nice bonus. Been running mine for over a year and still love it. My only regret was not having enough money to go to the 4" FT. But that would have required a new drive shaft and Adj rear upper control arms. Just could not afford it at the time.

I would buy nothing from teraflex. You could not even give me any of their products.

I do not know of a single person running the rusty's lift, so no clue on that lift.

Sorry to hijack, but I was wondering about teraflex also. I know a couple of guys that are die hard tera flex lovers and was wondering what everyone thought about them. I was surprised that I haven't heard anything about them in all the threads I have read!!

Go with the Full Traction lift. I just switched from an OME 2" lift to the FT Ultimate 4" lift, I like it 100 time better. Get a good set of shocks to go with it.

Every single Tera running person I know (long arm) hates it. The joints need maintenance all the time and still wear out fast. The short arm kit is just plain over priced for sub quality components.
Plus you have the added pleasure of dealing with a company that would rather steal and copy (in the typical Tera low quality way) patented ideas. Knowing that the small companies who invented the idea's simply can not afford the 10 of thousands of dollars in lawyer fees it takes to defend their claim from the big company.
So Tera comes out with "their own" sway lock and instead of offering a couple bucks to the inventor for the rights to make a crappy copy they simply copy it and wait to see if the inventor can come up with the big bucks to fight it. Even if the guy does, they will have made enough money from selling the knock offs to cover their losses.
I have no problem with anybody that buys their stuff. But its not the kind of company I will support ever again.

Although I'm only looking at getting a basic 3", I found some reviews on the Teraflex @ http://www.jeepreviews.com/jeep-parts-review/11/lift-kit-reviews/

Rear lower control arms

has anyone experienced rear driveshaft popping sounds. these bushings are piss poor and my rear pop every time i shift.teraflex said they were working out the problem. superlift makes a similar control arm but i'm not sure about it. there seems to be problems on all tj lifts with short arm control arms. anyone have a solution.

I bought my TJ new in '97 and put the Teraflex 4" kit on it as soon as it came on the market. I soon found out that most of their clames of superior flexability and quality were all false!
The problems I had were mostly in the rear control arms. I had to replace the bushings after two years and now both lower arms stripped out their threads! The powdercoat paint was pitiful! everything was completely rusty after the first year of use!! I had to add 2" spacers to the rear coils after about the second year because it started sagging in the rear. I wouldn't recomend their products to anyone!!

Control arms from Hell

I've run the 4" Tera lift for quite some time. The control arm design is rather poor. They have ripped off the control arm mounts which I then replaced with stronger RE units. The bushings don't last long - and I lube the arms quite often. There are problems with getting adequate lubrication into the arms (they may have now added a second zerk) and the o-rings fail more often than they should. The threaded portion is now failing on three of the arms - once again, I lube them quite often. Two of us had direct communication with Tera re the lubrication problems and we were unhappy with the responses. Essentially, Tera admitted the problems existed, and different reps proposed contradictory actions as band aid solutions.

Nice system but needs a little work

I bought the 3" lift for my '99 TJ. Easy installation and LOVE the flex! I found that the polyurethane bushing in the control arms wear out too quickly. I've greased them more than suggested. TeraFlex customer service is EXCELLENT. They informed me i'm supposed to use "lithium grease". Well it was never stated in MY instructions. They sold me a new set for a decent price 8-( After switching to Lithium grease for this set, they too only lasted a few months at best. They get so sloppy it's hard to keep the keep straight down the road. Anyway, i've given up on the control arms, went back to the STOCK arms! I've been waiting for the LCG kit to come out but until Teraflex starts using rubber bushings, I won't be buying another kit from them.
