Garvin Wilderness Rack - Buyer's remorse

Ordered this from 4wp 3 weeks ago, still hasn't been delivered, and apart from frustration, I'm also feeling tingles of buyer's remorse. I'm looking for opinions on this rack, to see if I should soldier on, or back out.

Garvin Industries

I wanted a tire carrier that could carry 35" spare, jerry can and hi-lift jack.

Body Armor has the cheapest but I've heard issues about them (spare sits out when jerry cans are on). Thus I opted for high cost, and heard a lot about the quality of this rack.

Well the first thing to realize is that you're not allowed to say anything bad about a product or vendor on this forum so the answers you'll get may not accurately reflect the marketplace. If you do you'll get a "nastygram" from one of the mods and your post will get deleted.

I'd be calling 4wp and asking for an expected 'shipping date'...because obviously they didn't have it in stock-and have probably ordered it 'shipped direct' from the factory to you. But there is no excuse for them not to keep you informed. I use Quadratek for all my major parts in the past, and if they didn't have it, they kept me informed on where it was coming from and when it was expected to arrive. Just give your dealer a call and ask! And if they say it's on backorder, call some other suppliers/vendors and see if you can find one in stock somewhere!

that's lame, as long as you are being honest and not nasty, the post should be valid.

I wouldn't say that that statement is entirely accurate. I would welcome a straightforward, unbiased review of anything, so long as you're not bashing the vendor or product. That is totally possible to acomplish. If you don't like something, or were dissatisfied with a product or service, it is easy to convey that information without being a arse about it, which I have done myself, here on this forum. I for one welcome honest, factual, unbiased reviews.

Looks like a great rack. I'd love to have that.

I suffer from the same thing - tough when you have to wait for a product to ship. Currently waiting for Quadratec and a product which is 'At Drop Shipper'.

Grr.

Well said. If you go about it in a mature way, then I wouldn't see a problem with the information you put out. Just give me the facts.

Have you considered RockHard . . . seems to have the options you are looking for?

When i bought my jeep it came with their roof rack and the tire carrier with the extras on the tire carrier. Im not a big fan of the tire carrier cuz if you want in the back you gotta unscrew a bolt to swing the tire carrier cuz it has a bolt verses a lach system. And my jeep is lifted and rides a little rough (which i don't mind) but i have noticed that the bolt tends to work loose and the rack rattles. Which that last statment could be cause the way my jeep rides. But that's just my opinion.

I was about to order the Hanson tire carrier until I saw the new G2 from Garvin, not available until mid may for TJ's but it looks nice. Worth the wait.

My TJ came with a Garvin Wilderness Rack. Love the look but I am thinking about parting with it if anyone is interested...

I can give it a thumbs up for looks and quality, however mine has developed a fair amount of surface rust, though nothing a little wire brush and paint wouldnt fix
