How to stop gas from blowing out when filling tank. New to Jeep world. Bought a 2006 TJ

It's a function of fill speed. There's a way to fix it, but in the meantime, fill the last few gallons slowly. You'll hear it reach the top, but if you fill it slowly enough it will shut off automatically.

Takes a lot of patience or a really good feel for how many gallons you need.

Then why does my '99 TJ do it? Some pumps...not all keep kicking the nozzle off. Usually all the way in makes it worse so I end up hanging it halfway out and nursing it on the slowest setting.

The poppet valve inside the fuel tank at the base of the filler inlet sticks open (and sometimes sticks closed). Inserting the GM fuel hose flapper valve into the Jeep OEM hose is a decent, inexpensive and easy solution to permanently fix the issue. Sometimes, after a while, the poppet valve will close and stick in the closed position. Then you have to take a long screw driver and push it back open again. When this happens, the Jeep won't accept fuel, except at a super slow pace. Either way, it's totally worth doing the easy fix described in the linked threads above.
