Gas cap?

So I forgot to put my has cap on after filling up It was a stant gas cap. Is it worth it to get another one or should I just pick up whatever they have at the local parts store?

I did this a couple weeks ago too. It happens. I just picked up an oem replacement at auto zone for like 8 bucks.

I would resist the temptation to buy a locking gas cap as many can't maintain an air-tight seal. An air leak there can cause a Check Engine light from the resulting evaporative system leak.

My stock gas cap broke and I simply went down to the local parts store and bought a new one that works better than the stock one did.

I didn't have a stock one. I had a stant one which is supposed to be the "best" gas cap, radiator cap etc. I never had any problems with it except for that I lost it lol. Just wondering if there really is a difference between the stant and other after market, is it worth the extra few bucks and trying to find where to buy one?

If you didn't have any problems before, go pick up another.

How many problems can you have with a gas cap? As long as it seals...

mine came with the locking gas cap from the factory 7 years ago and still sealing just fine . Certain parts I prefer to be in a MOPAR box when I buy them . 05 Option.... XJH Locking fuel filler cap , tethered.

I'd put a locking stant cap on if I were you...there's just too many douches out there that will siphon gas or pour something into your tank. The only sealing issue I had with mine was from operator error. Or put on a regular cap and buy a locking cover that's what I did...they look nice and with some blue/red loctite on the torx screws they'll never get it off.

Mopar just sells reboxed stant caps so don't go to the dealer and pay double for the same thing.

The new trend isn't siphoning. Now they like to drill into the tank and let it drain into a bucket. Faster, more effective, no bad taste, and bypasses car alarms and locking caps.

Just pick a lanyard off an old cap at the bone yard and add it to your cap.

Have you tried to put a siphon hose down a TJ filler pipe?

I doubt the undesirables will be rolling with any special bits so a little sheet of Stainless Steel would do the trick.
