2002 TJ at times the gas guage doesn't work sits on "E" and the low fuel indicator comes on. Shut the engine off and restart it works fine very intermitten problem.

I don't know if it will help you, but I read on another forum that Chevron Techron was curing fuel gauge problems some GM owner's are experiencing. Good luck.

Granted comparing Fords to Jeeps is Apples to Oranges, but hopefully someone can chime in more. My brother Fuel Control Unit in his ford was going bad, and he would get the same issues. Either the Fuel Control Unit or the Fuel Sending Unit or the Fuel Management Unit. Trying to remember which name it went by, (I know the Fuel Control Unit is common in aircraft, but I really think that was also the name of the faulty culprit in his car). Anyway, I'd see if that helps you start looking in the right direction.
Boy do I miss Wisconsin...

Sounds like a bad ground somewhere.

My gauge drops to zero after the low fuel light comes on... I figure it is just a means to get me to a gas station before I run it dry. I like to think of it as a "feature"

Agree it sounds like a bad ground. I would check both the cables going from the back of the gauge and be sure they have solid, clean connections and a good ground.
