Gas Mileage Items

First, i know that having the A/C on while driving can give you worse gas mileage as it puts a strain on the engine, but if you disconnect the compressor electrically during the winter months i can still have heat right?? This won't do any harm.

Second I just changed my oil (Mobil 1), Flushed radiator (was pretty nasty), changed air filter, and now I am getting 3-4 mpg less than before. I washed my engine compartment after all of the above. Could I have gotten water somewhere that would be affecting my mileage or any other suggestions??

add some sea foam to the oil... usually helps clean out the built-up gunk.

If you disconnect the a.c. in the winter you won't be able to defrost the windows as well when they fog up.

I'm pretty sure when you turn on the defrost the a.c. kicks on and sucks moisture out of the cab to keep from fogging up. Thats why you can't use recirculate with the heat on.
And what's the answer to your doctor joke?

BY the way... be sure to catch the Mythbusters where they proved twice that A/C on uses less fuel than windows down and A/C off. I know for sure that my wrangler gets better mileage when the top is on.

whats the first setting for? isnt that to recirculate?

ok as the joke goes, my calc teacher told it to us...

the difference is:
A medical doctor takes sick people and makes them normal
A mathematical doctor takes normal people and makes them sick.

walker that depends on the cars shape and engine size as consumer reports did few tests too on lightweight cars and they proved just the opposite.. ac uses more gas than windows...

possiblity....

take the dist. cap off and let it dry out or you can use a heat gun on low to help speed up the process just dont get it too hot. same with your rotor make sure it is dry. make sure your spark plug wires are good/ and connected all the way

No A/C here.

But, on my Ford, the air compressor would come on when I would adjust it for the feet or defrost. I hate that because you don't have a choice to turn it off.

Even though it helps with defrost, I like having the choice.

Next time in idle, listen for the compressor kicking in. Turn it to each dial and figure out which setting activates the compressor.

BTW, no A/C in mine and the defrost works great.

itīs the same in the stock TJ with AC.
you can modify it in less than 5 minutes with an additional switch.

just cut the little light green cableon the connector on the right side and put a switch in there. now you can turn the A/C off in the defrost and other positions whenever you want.

come on you got to tell a better joke then that, such as

Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them collapses and stops breathing. His panicked buddy calls 911 on is cell."My friend is dead!" he gasps."What can i do?" "Calm down," the operator says "i can help. first we have to make sure he is dead." There is a silence, then a shot is heard. back on the phone, the guy says to the operator,"OK now what"

lol i find it a bit disturbing that our teacher told it to us..

There was another one he told us.. so 2 guys go up in a hot air balloon but all the sudden their controls stop responding so they cannot do anything.
So they float around and float around they fall a sleep. All the sudden they wake up in the middle of a pure green grassy area. As they are floating they notice a man just sitting on the grass so they yell at him "Wheeeerrreeee aaaarrrreeeee wwwweeeeee?"

The man does not respond. They pass over him and as they get further away, they hear a very quiet response "Yyyyooouuu aaarrreeee iiinnnn aaaa hhhooootttt aaaiiiirrrr bbbaaaallllllooooooooooooonnn"

Ok there are 3 reasons that explain why the man sitting on the grass was a mathematician.

1st reason is "he thought about the question" and then gave a response.
2nd reason is his answer is 100% correct.
3rd reason is it is completely useless.

We also watched that movie in that class too.

Defront is nothing more than hot air from the heater diverted to the windshield. Hasn't changed in 50 years. The YJ defrosts just fine without an A/C unit.

hhmmm paraplegic is a spinal injury that makes you paralyzed from the damaged point down right?

If the kid is blind and is paralyzed I'd assume something to listen to then such as an Ipod

It is more than that. Your compressor will kick on if you have AC so there has to be some reasonfor that to happen. It may just blow hot air on the windshield if you don't have AC but listen to a vehicle that does, you will hear the compressor.

Disconecting it will not do anything as long as your ac is off the clutch it disingaged from the compressor.
