gauges going crazy!!!!

First off I have a 98 tj stock. I just replaced the intake/exhaust manifold gasket. Since I replaced that my battery gauge has been dropping from normal to 9, but my jeep runs fine? Then my heater ain't getting as hot as it normally does and if it does it works for a few mins then blows cold, now that would make me think that my themostat is stuck but my temp gauge stays normal then it will run hot for a min or two then back off red and go back. I'm just a shade tree mechanic so I have no clue what's going on. All help is greatly appreciated.

I don't know the 2.5L that well, but based on ur symptoms, I would say u have an air pocket in ur cooling system and u possibly didn't get a ground wire reinstalled properly causing ur volt gauge to go crazy. Keep in mind ur voltage regulator is built into the PCM, and if all the ground wires (5 or 6) coming from ur PCM aren't located properly, clean and tight, it will cause all sorts of crazy problems.
