Gear Ratio Calculator


That chart is 1:1 (3rd gear for autos, 4th for the 5 speed, and 5th for the 6 speed). According to that my last Jeep would have been running about 3000 rpm at 65mph.

Use the calculator I posted and input your transmission, tire size, and change the gear ratios till you find what you need. You are looking for something around 2300 rpm at 65mph depending on how heavy you are and your aerodynamics for a 6 cyl and 2600 for a 4cyl.

More needs to be taken into consideration, but that is a general rule of thumb.

While that one seems to work fine, the one I posted does better because it automatically inputs the ratios for your transmission, and it also shows you speeds vrs rpm, rpm vrs speed, and crawl ratios in 4-lo.
